Mabs Drawlloween: Week 1 Werewolf Nails

Post may contain press samples

Happy Monday, dear readers! I am so excited to be sharing my first Halloween nail art look with you! I was inspired by Mab's Drawlloween series and opted to jump in! While it started off with a prompt for every day throughout October, this year she also created a lite list with a prompt every few days and a weekly prompt. As much as I would love to be able to create nail art every day, joining the weekly series is more my current speed. I've got a few other designs I would like to create this month as well, so this way I can theoretically participate in Mab's Drawlloween Club and still be able to do my own thing.

The theme for Week 1 is a Werewolf, and I created my first ever werewolf look on my nails! Check it out!

Since I'm not too great at freehand nail art (I'm actually quite terrible), I opted to pull out my stash of stamping plates for this design. I didn't realize until this particular challenge that I don't really have much for werewolf options on my plates! Thankfully I found a couple I could use, but I need to hunt down more of a variety for either later this month or next Halloween!

Even with my limited options, I really enjoyed creating these nails!

The prompt for Week 2 is "Vampire", and I'm already trying to decide what exactly I want to do. That should be coming up soon!

Until next time, dear readers, have a wonderful night!

Scrub away the Bad Vibes with KBShimmer's Strawberries and Cream Sugar Scrub and the October Polish Pickup

Greetings, dear readers, and happy October! I am so excited to see a new month and have some pretty amazing news to share. It's more personal and less blog related, but I hope you'll humor me for a minute! As many of you are aware, I became sick with COVID in March, and I have been rushed to the Emergency Room and occasionally admitted to the hospital for one related reason or another every month since... that is, until September. I've been noticing big improvements in my health since my last hospital stay in August, and I am so happy to report that I have not needed to step foot inside an ER, hospital, or even and Urgent Care last month. While I may not be able to predict what is in store for me the rest of the year, this is one small victory that cannot be taken away from me! Now let's get to today's post and the reason you are here!

Tomorrow is the first Friday of the month, and that means the opening of the October Polish Pickup is only a day away! Polish Pickup fans voted, and the theme for this month is Animation. KBShimmer is participating once again in the Polish Pickup, and I have their delicious smelling sugar scrub to share with you today. First, let me start out by saying two things:

1. YUM, and

2. Do not eat the sugar scrub.

I was really curious about how Christy Rose of KBShimmer was inspired by animation to come up with this scent! Here are her comments about how and why she went with this delicious fruit fragrance:

Strawberry Shortcake, Raspberry Tart and Huckleberry Pie may sound like fantastic desserts- and they are- but they are also characters from childhood cartoon specials and dolls. These funny kids always got into trouble, and of course, saved the day! But the cartoon was just a backdrop for the dolls; each was scented like their character's name! We loved to sniff their hair and smell strawberries or blueberries. It was so special to have one of these dolls...this scent really takes me back!

Y'all, I remember asking for one of these dolls, ANY of them, when I was younger, but I never received one! I only got to enjoy their scents when I was playing with friends, and this certainly is reminiscent of those days!

Strawberries and Cream Sugar Scrub is a fun red and cream swirled scrub featuring a sprinkle of biodegradable glitter on top. Notes of ripe and juicy strawberries are the top note of this sugar scrub, with notes of fresh whipped cream appearing in the background.

I've not made it a secret that I enjoy KBShimmer's sugar scrubs, and this one is no exception to that rule! They are perfect for use on your hands and body, and mine alternate between use as a hand scrub between manicures, pedi scrubs when giving my feet a little extra TLC, and on the backs of my arms in particular to smooth out those tiny little bump that refuse to quit. I love the sensation of rinsing off the remaining sugar crystals, patting my skin dry, and then feeling just how soft my skin has become thanks to this scrub!

KBShimmer's Strawberries and Cream Sugar Scrub will be available for purchase this weekend on the Polish Pickup website only starting tomorrow, Friday, October 2nd through Monday, October 5th. Each jar will retail for $10, and there is no cap on the number of jars available for purchase. Please note orders are submitted to Polish Pickup as a pre-order and to allow three weeks for items to ship out to you.

Also, be sure to check out my previous post if you haven't seen it yet to check out the KBShimmer nail polish offering this month.

What do you have your eye on this month? I'd love to hear from you!

Until next time, dear readers, have a wonderful day!
XO!

KBShimmer is back for the October Polish Pickup: Moumantai Nail Polish

Greetings, dear readers, and happy hump day! It's been a little intense around here between home schooling and monitoring my health as the days pass by this month, but thankfully October starts tomorrow and hopefully I'll have some good news to share. Cross your fingers for me and let's get to today's blog post!

The October Polish Pickup will be opening this upcoming Friday, and I know quite a few people are excited! After voting month after month, the winning theme for October is Animation, and indie brands sure have been strutting their stuff by showing their incredible creations! KBShimmer is one of the brands participating this month with her stunning nail polish, Moumantai.

Here is creator Christy Rose's insight on this beauty:

School can be stressful, even more so when you are finishing up college and working full time. Wanting to be an adult but still clinging to childhood, I woke up on Saturday mornings just to watch cartoons. A cartoon I loved to watch in 2001 was Digimon Tamers. The computers and electronics pumping out data formed a second world, a digital world. Through a computer program and evolution, digital monsters emerged, befriending kids and fighting other Digimon to save both worlds.

Moumantai is a catch phrase used by one of the Digimon meaning "take it easy".

Moumantai starts off with a deepened indigo base that falls between navy and purple depending on the angle and lighting. It is loaded with shifty flakes that run from lush lime green and turquoise into cobalt and gold. The consistency is very similar to my beloved jelly polishes, and it covers to opacity in two coats on my short nails.

I really love the look of this polish and found myself constantly moving my fingers and inspecting how the looked! While there certainly are a lot of flakes to admire, they didn't impede application in the slightest! There may be the occasional flake to push back up onto a nail or remove if it is hanging off, but the nail polish still flowed beautifully off the wide brush. The flakes do give your nails a slight textured finish, and I needed to use two coats of KBShimmer's Clearly On Top top coat to obtain a smooth finish on my nails.

Moumantai will be available for purchase through the Polish Pickup website only from this Friday, October 2nd through Monday, October 5th. It will retail for $10 per bottle, and there is no limit to the number of bottles available for purchase.

Please keep in mind that all Polish Pickup purchases are preorders and to allow three weeks for shipping.

Are you ready for the Polish Pickup? What have you added to your wishlists? I'd love to hear from you!

Until next time, dear readers, have a wonderful day!
XO!
