Halloween Trick or Treat Giveaway!

Good evening, my dear readers!  I would like to apologize for my breaks in posts recently.  My computer has made it very clear to me that it is not happy, and it is constantly refusing to go online for extended periods of time.  I see a new computer in my future, and hopefully it is before I toss this one out the window out of frustration.  I have also been a little distracted lately because I am about 14 weeks pregnant!  Be very afraid, for I am incubating Jedi spawn!  Haha!  Seriously though, I am very excited about being a mother, and the kiddo has already shown us some attitude by flipping the bird to the doctor conducting my ultrasound.  This one is going to be a handful!
Now, on to the fun stuff!  As many of you already know, Halloween is my all time favorite holiday, and to celebrate, I have partnered up with 26 bloggers for an awesome Trick or Treat giveaway!  Much like my favorite tradition as a child, the winners won't know what they are getting until they receive their package.  This should be called a Treat or Treat giveaway because we have so many awesome prizes up our bewitched sleeves including indies, Halloween exclusive polishes, nail art supplies and so much more.  Dressing up in costume is entirely optional, but definitely encouraged.  ;)

Are you ready for the list of participating bloggers?  I hope so, because here we go!

No Virgin Should Ever Light the Black Flame Candle!

September is slowly coming to a close, and soon it will be Halloween everything at my house!  One of my favorite Halloween movies is "Hocus Pocus", and indie creator Sunny, of 365 Days of Color, has wowed me with her Halloween collection based on the movie.

In the odd chance that someone has been living under a rock for the past nineteen years, the movie is about three witches that are hung in their own time for kidnapping and stealing the life essence of children.  They cast a spell of the town that will bring them back to continue their evil deeds when a black flame candle is lit within their abode by a virgin.  Long story short, a virgin lights the candle three hundred years later, and both he, his little sister, and the girl he is interested in have to destroy the witches.  For those people that enjoy Halloween, but not horror movies [yes, somehow this is possible ;-) ], this is a cute and fun movie the whole family can enjoy.

Sunny sent me Black Flame Candle to swatch and review, and I was all to eager to do it for her!  I used three coats of colour and one coat of top coat for these photos.
Black Flame Candle is a build-able black jelly polish filled with microglitter that flashes silver and blue, and I am almost convinced I saw hints of green and pink in the mix.  What can I say other than this polish is just gorgeous!  Plain black creme polishes bore me to no end, and the microglitter truly does make all the difference.  It applied easily and smoothly for me, and it dried quickly as well.

Black Flame Candle and the rest of the Hocus Pocus collection are scheduled to be released September 21st (this Friday!) and will be available at Big Cartel.  You can also follow 365 Days of Color on Facebook for any updates and news on other upcoming collections.  Sunny is also a blogger, and you should definitely check out her blog too.  :)

I will leave you with one of my favorite quotes from the movie:

"You know, I've always wanted a child.  And now, I think I'll have one... on toast!" -Winifred Sanderson

Until next time, dear readers, stay good, or just don't get caught!  ;-)

One Last Summer Hurrah!

Good morning, dear readers, and happy Monday!  I hope you have enjoyed the weekend and are ready for the week.

It is starting to cool down here in Tucson, and we are now into the 90's.  Fall is quickly approaching, and while I never have the changing leaves or the crisp autumn air since relocating here from the east coast, I still try to get into the fall spirit with my nails.  Because the season is almost here, I wanted to get in one last polish that screams summer to me: Barielle's Island Breeze.

I used two coats of Island Breeze in these photos.

I love this colour!  It definitely reminds me of tropical oceans, and it is a perfect end of summer colour.  I had full coverage (no visible nail line) in two coats, but the formula was very thin.  Paint with caution or you may have to clean up flooded cuticles.  This certainly isn't the end of the world by any means, but I wanted to be sure you were aware of this possible problem.

I have a busy week ahead of me, and I hopefully will have some big news to share in the next week or so.  Until next time, enjoy your week!  XOXO!

It's beginning to look like Halloween! SoFlaJo: Spider Funk

Good morning, dear readers!  I have an indie treat to share with you, just in time for Halloween planning to begin!  I was really excited when I was selected to review a polish from the SoFlaJo Terrifed Collection.  Halloween has always been my favorite holiday, and I *may* keep a few decorations out in my house year-round.  What can I say:  it makes me happy, and thankfully the hubby is supportive of my quirks.  :D  On to the polish!

As some of you already know, I am a big fan of orange polish, so naturally I was drawn to Spider Funk.  Spider Funk is made up of orange, red, black, and silver glitters that are suspended in an orange matte base.  I had seen it swatched both alone and over a black base, and I wanted to use something different to showcase this beauty.  I ended up swatching one coat of Spider Funk over three coats Sinful Colors Pull Over (the yellow) and two coats OPI Chop-sticking To My Story.

No top coat used for the full matte effect

I wanted to give Spider Funk a chance to shine, so I then added two coats of Hong Kong Girl top coat.
Isn't it just gorgeous?!?

The glitters are well suspended in the base, and no digging was necessary to get any of them out of the bottle and onto the nail.  Because this is a matte polish, it dries very quickly, so you do have to work quickly to get those glitters placed on the nail.  I have a little clumping of glitters on my middle finger since I started with it first and didn't even think about it being a matte.  I applied it faster when I was got to the other fingers, and you can see the glitters are distributed better.

I know more bloggers will be reviewing this collection in the very near future, and the rest of this awesome collection can be viewed here.

If receiving a Terrified polish from SoFlaJo doesn't put you in the Halloween spirit, I don't know what will!  Jody, the mastermind behind the brand, takes great pride in sending out her polishes to her customers, and she adds little extra touches that makes opening up your mail fun.  From Halloween stickers to confetti to little goodies, you will feel like you have started the trick-or-treat season a little early.

Spider Funk and the rest of the Terrified Collection (and other SoFlaJo polishes for that matter) can be purchased directly from Jody's website located here in both mini and full sizes.  Also, be sure to keep your eye on the SoFlaJo Facebook page for any updates and news of future collections.

Have you started preparing for Halloween yet?

Until next time, dear readers, stay good, or just don't get caught!  ;)
