Blue-Eyed Girl Lacquer: Foux du Fafa Collection, a New Siren, and a Charity Polish, Oh My!

Press Sample

Good morning, dear readers! I hope you have had a wonderful week thus far! Things are still a little crazy around here, and my youngest decided it was the perfect time to get sick again. Yay! He's down for a nap so I'm a running with this post while I can. Ready? Let's do this!

Blue-Eyed Girl Lacquer launched the new Foux du Fafa Collection, a new Siren, and a charity polish yesterday, and I have the all to share with you. Let's start with the Foux du Fafa polishes. This five piece collection is composed of gorgeous creme shades inspired by Flight of the Conchords. They were designed so they can be used in your favorite nail art techniques such as stamping and water marbling, and I tested out the water marble capabilities for this post. Please note water marbling is not my strongest suit, but I definitely enjoyed testing these! Let's check them out!

Too Many Misters
Two coats plus top coat

Deep forest green creme

I am so excited to see something different for the spring from Blue-Eyed Girl Lacquer! I really like dark greens, so this one is definitely one of my favorites from the collection. The formula was really nice and it applied perfectly with two coats.

Robo-Aggression
One coat plus top coat

Medium grey creme

This is the most glorious grey shade ever! The formula was a touch on the thick side, but application was still pretty good. Bottles going out to customers will have a little thinner formula so it should be easier to work with.

Freaky Dream
One coat plus top coat

Blackened indigo creme

Like Robo-Aggression, Freaky Dream was also on the thicker side and will be thinner for customers. In spite of the thickness, I found it applied nicely and will probably keep it in the current state instead of adding thinner. This is beautiful!

We’re Vincible
Two coats plus top coat

Mustard yellow creme

There was a time when I avoided yellows, but I have fallen hard for this gorgeous mustardy shade! I've found the formulas of yellow polishes tend to be ho hum, but this one was quite nice; I was impressed with how well it applied! This is a great shade if you want something a little brighter but not too light or pastel.

Rent Boy
Two coats plus top coat

Deep scarlet creme

Wowza! I love dark reds, and Rent Boy is perfection! The colour is fantastic and the formula is on point- what more could you possibly want!

I used the full Foux du Fafa Collection for my accent water marbled nail. The polishes spread so perfectly over the water! The yellow hue does get a little muddied at the edges next to a dark colour, but other than that, I had no issues with the polishes. Now my technique....well, that could use a little improvement still.

In addition to the Foux du Fafa Collection, there is a stunning new Siren!

Siren’s Vamp Chic Spring
Two coats plus top coat

Deep grape purple scattered holographic packed with gold holographic microglitters and gold and purple microflakies

Hello there, gorgeous! Now this is one perfect purple polish! The base shade is lovely, but it's the gold and purple microflakes that are making me swoon. The formula was fantastic, and this is another must-have Siren!

Lilly of My Dreams
Two coats plus top coat

Hot pink (leaning a touch red) creme packed with blue shimmers

Lilly of my Dreams is a very special charity polish. A close friend of Julie's, the mastermind behind Blue-Eyed Girl Lacquer, and a friend of mine from the polish community for four years now has PCOS and was told she likely would never be able to have a child. Lo and behold, the doctor was wrong and she became pregnant naturally! I certainly teared up when she shared the news, and I can only imagine how thrilled she was! Created in honor of her beautiful daughter Lillian (whose name I probably voted on 100 times when they were choosing names, haha), Lilly of My Dreams was created to celebrate this miracle with 100% of the proceeds going to PCOS Awareness Association. This shade is stunning, and the formula is fabulous!

Made for Me Monday Featuring Superficially Colorful

Happy Monday, dear readers! This post is coming a little later in the day than I had hoped, but it was a crazy weekend and day around here. One of the highlights is my desk has been moved out of the corner of the living room and into it's own room! I now have a full room to swatch and store my bottles rather than trying to find space anywhere I could. Yay! I'm so excited about it! I'm still getting everything set up so I had to make do, but I am hoping to get at least my swatch area finished up tomorrow. I digress, so let me get to today's post!

If you've been following me for the past few months, you've likely seen my latest series, Made For Me Monday. In brief, I have been providing a photo inspiration or a theme to different indie makers, and they have been creating a polish or product based on the inspiration. Many have since released these creations in their own respective shops so you can enjoy them too! For today's blog post, I present my Made For Me Monday series featuring Superficially Colorful!

I always love these projects, but I was especially excited about this one because rather than a photo inspiration, Jin, the mastermind behind the brand, decided to go with a theme. Today is World Penguin Day, and we decided to use penguins as her inspiration. I had absolutely no idea what to expect, and it was such a fun experience for me to be so completely surprised! I hope you're ready for a whole lot of cuteness! Let's look at everything a little closer!
Jin really got into this project and went so far above and beyond to put together the cutest penguin-inspired package! Let's start with the polish first. Warning- I've got some serious shorties! I had a nail break opening mail, and while I was attempting to repair it, another broke off completely beyond repair. Yay for Club Nubbin!

His Majesty
Two coats plus top coat

This polish is so beautiful, and these photos just don't do it justice! I love the rainbow flashes of the flecks and the dazzle of the sprinkling of holo glitters in the mix. I adore black polishes that have something extra to them, and His Majesty is perfect! The formula was fantastic as well!

His Majesty was inspired by the King Penguin. The original inspiration photo is licensed and cannot be published here, so here is another one for you.

The Royal Family
One coat over Zoya Lillian plus top coat

This is such a great glitter topper! The triangle glitters have the most gorgeous blue flash when you angle your nails, and I didn't have to dig for any of them! I applied this polish easily with a little bit of a dab and a swish to disperse the glitters nicely across my nails.

The inspiration for The Royal Family is this cute photo of Royal Penguins.

Felted Soap
AHHHH! HOW CUTE IS THIS! I definitely squealed when I saw this adorable felted soap penguin, and I had to hide it from my toddler. I've been curious about felted soaps but have never used one before this one. It lathered up nicely for me with a little massaging and left my skin soft. I'm so thankfully I'll still have the adorable penguin left once the soap is gone!

Special Fizz
A Spa Day
This package only just made it in time for today's post for World Penguin Day so I have not yet had the opportunity to use this yet. Jin has told me there is a penguin surprise to fit the theme. I'm certainly looking forward to hiding out and having a nice soak with this! I love the smell!

I had so much fun with this penguin-filled package from Superficially Colorful, and there is still more for me to try yet! I really enjoyed having no idea how Jin would be inspired by this theme, and I can only hope she had as much fun with this as I have!

At this time, these products are not scheduled to be launched, but they hopefully will be in the future. Until then, there are lovely polishes available for purchase at the Superficially Colorful site here.

I hope you've enjoyed today's Made For Me Monday post! What product are you looking forward to seeing the most? I'd love to hear from you!

Until next time, have a wonderful night!
XO!

Ellagee: Game of Theories Collection

Happy Tuesday, dear readers! I am back after taking the week off to take care of myself, and while I'm still not in the best place, I am certainly doing far better than I was. I am eager to get back to writing up posts, so I'm just going to jump right on in. Shall we?

Ellagee just released the third installment of collections inspired by Game of Thrones. Called the Game of Theories Collection, I had the opportunity to purchase this collection before its release, and I am so excited to be sharing my swatches with you today. Let's do this!

The Gravedigger
Three coats plus top coat

The Gravedigger, a sage green with flakes that shift from lime green to gold, gold flash, and strong holographic shimmer. 15 ml bottle.

Part of the Game of Theories collection inspired by some of the many fan theories about the upcoming season of Game of Thrones. This polish represents the gravedigger theory about what may have happened to Sandor Clegane.

I LOVE a good green polish, and I got to enjoy this beauty during my trip to Orlando. The base colour is beautiful, but it is the colour-shifting flakes that makes this shade fantastic. The formula was smooth and easy to work with, and I certainly recommend this shade for every green lover!

No One
Three coats plus top coat

No One, a pale silver with rainbow iridescent flakes, gold flash, and strong holographic shimmer. 15 ml bottle.

Part of the Game of Theories collection inspired by some of the many fan theories about the upcoming season of Game of Thrones. This polish represents Arya Stark and the theories/speculation on what will happen to her this season.

No one should be without No One! Between the rainbow flakes and the gold flash, I cannot help but swoon over this beauty. The formula was also fantastic to boot so you can't go wrong with this beauty.

Azor Ahai
Three coats plus top coat

Azor Ahai, a rose/coral with flakes that shift from red-orange to gold, gold flash, and strong holographic shimmer. 15 ml bottle.

Part of the Game of Theories collection inspired by some of the many fan theories about the upcoming season of Game of Thrones. This polish represents the prince that was promised and who he might be.

I adore this rose hue, especially for the spring! It is such a pretty shade and certainly one of my favorites from the collection. Like the rest of the collection, the formula was perfect.

Tower of Joy
Three coats plus top coat

Tower of Joy, a periwinkle blue with flakes that shift from blue-violet to gold, gold flash, and strong holographic shimmer. 15 ml bottle.

Part of the Game of Theories collection inspired by some of the many fan theories about the upcoming season of Game of Thrones. This polish represents the blue winter rose and the theory of the mystery of who Jon Snow's parents actually are.

I don't wear periwinkle shades often since they often look odd on me, but this one is so pretty! It has a purple lean on my skin tone, and I am crazy over the flakes in this beauty as well! The formula was perfect, and it applied flawlessly.

This collection is currently availble for purchase on the Ellagee Polish website here. Each bottle retails for $12, or you can purchase the full four piece collection at the discounted price of $43.

What is your favorite shade from this collection? I'd love to hear from you!

Until next time, dear readers, have a wonderful day!
XO!

The Jedi Wife is Out for the Week!

Good morning, dear readers! I have been having a difficult time keeping up with my blog the past couple of weeks due to a personal loss, and I have decided to take the week off so I can work through my emotions as I mourn. Life must go on, but I need a little time to myself with minimal commitments. I will keep you updated if I end up being away for more than the week. At this time, I anticipate being back next week. Thank you for your patience, and I will see you soon!

Darling Diva Polish: Deadpool Collection Swatches and Review

Press Sample

Happy Friday, dear readers! I've been home for several days from my trip to Orlando, but life has been insane, hence the limited posts this week. My baby is currently sick and does not want to be put down, so I am taking advantage of his nap time and getting this written. Let's jump in!

***WARNING***

Due to the nature of this collection, many of the polish names may be offensive to some readers. Please proceed with caution or avoid this post if profanity and sexual innuendoes are offensive to you.

Darling Diva Polish has created yet another fabulous collection! Launching this evening, this collection was inspired by Deadpool. Deadpool is a Marvel Comic character with quite a mouth. A film was made featuring Ryan Reynolds and has been a major blockbuster hit. Now let's get to the polish!

These colours are beautiful, so I hope you're able to stick around to see what Darling Diva Polish has in store for the polish community. I am not going to be editing the names and descriptions provided. If you're still here with me, let's do this! After another warning, of course, since we're starting off with a doozy, lol!

***WARNING***
Due to the nature of this collection, many of the polish names may be offensive to some readers. Please proceed with caution or avoid this post if profanity and sexual innuendoes are offensive to you.

Sexy Motherfucker
One coat plus top coat

This red holo is just what the name says, one sexy motherfucker. If you want to be as sexy as Deadpool, wrinkles and all, you NEED this polish to live.

That's right, dear readers, I only needed ONE COAT for opacity! It is a gorgeous red polish with a fabulous formula; I'd say it suits the name perfectly!

Big Rubber Masturbating Shoes

Three coats plus top coat

Brilliant cobalt crelly. Best in 3 thin coats. Looks just like his dead sexy crocs. Crocs can be dead sexy. Stuffed unicorn and Jergen's lotion not included.

This blue is beautiful and dries to a lovely satiny finish without topcoat. I am loving this shade and the formula! I have some fun plans with this beauty!

As Much Fun as a Sandpaper Dildo
Three coats plus top coat

Baby pink with blue sparks and holo shimmer. Best in 3 thin coats. I mean look at it. It really is as much fun.......hehahaaa......no?

I'm not sure that a sanddpaper dildo would be much fun, but this colour certainly is! It pulls a little lavender on me because of the blue sparks and is stunning! Great formula for application!

Francis
One coat plus top coat

Teal holo reminiscent of Ajax detergent colors. Get it? ITS HILARIOUS....really.

Another one coat wonder! This shade is beautiful, and I am swooning over the extra pops of blue against the teal base. The formula was superb!

All the Dinosaurs Fear the T-Rex
Three coats plus top coat

SUPER dead sexy fuschia holo. Walk around like a T Rex while wearing this, I bet you get hit on. Best in 3 thin coats.

While you're going around acting like a T Rex, I hope you find a good manicurist. With those stubby arms, you certainly won't be painting your nails yourself! This shade is so glamourous, and the formula is perfect!

Smells Like Old Lady Pants
Three coats plus top coat

Lovely light grey soft holo with blue shimmer and NO old lady scent. Ew. Just no.

I must admit I was so glad I stayed home when I wore this shade so I wouldn't have anyone asking me the name, lol! I already get eyebrows raised with one hand painted on occasion and the constant rotation of colours. The formula was fantastic although it did not play nicely with HK Girl topcoat. Adding the topcoat caused the odd wrinkling effect seen here.

What in the Ass?
Two coats plus top coat

Amazing warm purple holo. I use this line at least once per day. STILL cracks me up. Just don't say it to your husband, they'd think it's a request.....Best in 3 thin coats.

I admit it, I tend to swear a lot, but I am really good about not doing so around my kids. What in the ass makes me laugh as well and is a favorite expression of mine. I actually found this polish to be quite opaque, and I only needed two coats for opacity. If you tend to paint with thick coats, you may find that one will suffice. Great formula for a great polish!

International Women's Day
Three coats without top coat

Bright pink crelly. Best in 3 thin coats. BWHAHAHAHAAA I kill myself. Really. This is a brilliant color for this name.

This pink is gorgeous! This is the same satiny finish as seen in Big Rubber Masturbating Shoes, and it is so pretty! The formula is fantastic as well!

Time to Make the Chimifuckingchangas
layered over original version of International Women's Day
One coat plus top coat

Flakie fucking goodness in a bottle with scattered holo excitement!!! FLAKIE ALL THE SHIT!!!!

I just love flakie toppers, and Darling Diva Polish does them better than anyone! If you want extra flashes of colour over your favorite base shade, this polish is for you! I swatched this over the original version of International Women's Day when it was planned to be a darker pink; please note that the lighter version shared above is the current one that will be released. Time to Make Chimifuckingchanges applied easily and perfectly, even with all that flakie goodness!

Crown of Dicks
Three coats plus top coat

Intense purple shimmer with pink and blue micro flakes. Get it for the name if nothing else.

This colour is so pretty, and these photos just don't do it justice! There is so much sparkle in this beauty! Again, I had the odd wrinkled effect after I added HK Girl topcoat, and the wrinkling is NOT from the Darling Diva Polish.

The Deadpool Collection will be released Friday, April 8th at 7 pm CST in Darling Diva Polish's shop.

There are so many great shades to choose from, and I love the variety of finishes! There is certainly something for everyone, if you can get past the names, that is!

Do you have a favorite shade from this collection? What ones do you need? I'd love to hear from you!

Until next time, dear readers, have a wonderful day!
XO!
