Zoya Petals Collection for Spring 2016

Press Sample

Happy Friday, dear readers! I hope this post finds you well and you have been having a wonderful week! I am out of town again, and this time I am visiting with a friend in Florida. I am only here for a long weekend so I'll be getting posts up here without interruption.
I received the latest Zoya Petals Collection just before I left town earlier this month to cover the UberChic launch event and then visiting with my inlaws; I apologize for this post coming so much later than usual. For today's blog post, I have my swatches and thoughts on the collection to share with you. Let's do this!

Aster
Two coats plus top coat

Fresh periwinkle with flecks of fuchsia to create a dewy finish,
mimicking the look of spring flowers in the morning.

While I normally am not particularly fond of this shade of purple, Aster is gorgeous and definitely a favorite shade in this collection. The flecks in this polish are stunning and certainly make me swoon! While not included in the official description, Aster also has beautiful blue flecks for extra flashes oc colour. The formula was fantastic and you will not be disappointed with this beauty.

Azalea
Two coats plus top coat

Classic spring pink with a captivating white and fuchsia flash.

Azalea is the same as Aster in overall finish but in a medium-dark shade of pink. I'm not really sure which is my favorite between the two, but I LOVE this finish! Like Aster, the formula was fantastic and application was a dream.

Laurel
Three coats plus top coat

Warm pastel pink with the slightest hint of sheen to mimic a petal
soft finish.

I love the idea of this polish, especially the subtle sheen, but I'm afraid that is where it ends for me. It applied very unevenly for me, and even at three coats, it was still uneven. Adding top coat did help smooth it out some, but I would have liked for it to have been smoother than this. It's not the worst polish I've used by any means, you just need extra patience when using it.

Leia
Three coats plus top coat

Sheer opalescent white with flecks of fuchsia, green and gold.

Leia is certainly a drool-worthy shade! I've been embracing the visible nail line recently since this type of finish because I find the overall look to be dazzling, and as you can see, you can still see nail line at three coats. You can certainly layer this over a base polish as well if you prefer. Leia applied really nicely for me and I have no issues to report.

Tulip
Three coats plus top coat

Pure pastel salmon cream with the slightest hint of sheen to mimic
a petal soft finish.

Tulip may be my favorite shade from the collection, a revelation that took me by surprise! I thought it was going to be too pale or too peach for my taste, but I loved it on my nails! The formula was a little tricky, much like that of Laurel although it wasn't quite as uneven. A quick coat of top coat smoothed it out nicely.

Zahara
Three coats plus top coat

Brilliant shimmering coral made modern with an opalescent effect.

Zahara was the shade I expected to be my favorite from the collection. While Tulip might have taken that honor, Zahara is certainly a very close second! It has the same fuchsia and white flecks as Aster and Azalea; it is definitely one of my favorite finishes! I'm definitely an orange girl at heart though so Zahara is my top choice of these three. The formula was fantastic, and I did find it to be a little sheerer that the other two. I needed three coats for opacity.

The Petals Collection is certainly a bright and vibrant collection, and the shades play beautifully together. I used all six shades over Zoya Snow White with several images from stamping plate 8-02 by UberChic Beauty on my accent nail. While some shades are sheerer than others, I love the overall look!

The Petals Collection is currently available for purchase from the Zoya website here.

Have you tried any shades from this collection yet? Which are your favorites? I'd love to hear from you!

Until next time, have a great day and a wonderful weekend!
XO!

  3. The visible nail line look is new to me and I'm really liking the way Leia makes the nail look after application.
