Model City Polish Halloween Collection: Swatches and Review

Good morning, dear readers! I am really excited to be sharing another Halloween collection with you today! Today's Halloween polishes are made by Nina of Model City Polish, and they launch tomorrow! The Model City Polish Halloween 2014 Collection consists of three beautiful polishes that are perfect for the holiday. Not only are the colours beautiful, they're scented! Let's check out some pictures!

Once Bitten

Once Bitten is a sheer crimson jelly polish with gold flecks in two sizes and fine gold holographic glitter. While I'm normally not a big fan of red polish, I absolutely adore red jellies! Once Bitten is gorgeous and my personal favorite from this trio. The colour deepens the more coats you add, and I chose to stop with two coats to get this lovely candy apple shade. I then added top coat for these photos. Once Bitten will be available in a light caramel apple scent- which is delicious, by the way- or unscented if you prefer.

Here Lies

Here Lies is a grey crelly blend with white and black flakies. It will be offered in an earthy scent with hints of sweet florals. Here Lies is *the* perfect grey polish for Halloween, and I am delighted to see it as part of this collection! This combination definitely reminds me of gravestones and cemeteries, and Nina really nailed this one!

Just Treats

If Halloween can be a little too dark or spooky for you, Just Treats is for you! Just Treats is a buttery crelly with blue, orange, pink, yellow, and green matte glitters in various shapes and sizes. It also glows green in the dark. Just Treats takes a sweet, light-hearted approach to the holiday, and I love this combo! I cannot pull off white-based crellies with my Mediterranean skin, and this buttery yellow base is the perfect solution. Just Treats will be offered in a sweet but tart candy scent. I used three coats for these photos and top coat for these photos. To help extend the life of the glow in the dark aspect, Nina suggests storing this one in a dark, cool area as extended heat and light exposure can shorten the life greatly.

I love the colours of this trio! The scents are pleasant without being overpowering, but they all will be available unscented if that is your preference. Use of a fast dry topcoat does not affect the scent.

The Halloween trio launches tomorrow, October 1st at 7PM CST at the Model City Shop located here. As a bonus for buying the new Halloween polish, there will be bonus themed items as well! Each bottle will come with an adorable Halloween-themed eraser, and those that buy all three polishes in this trio will get a Halloween hair tie (that can be used as a bracelet by short-haired readers like me). November A Box, Indied: Glisten & Glow Cran I Have Seconds Please?

Good evening, dear readers! I hope this post finds you well and you have enjoyed the start to a new week. For tonight's blog post, I have a gorgeous polish made by Jill of Glisten & Glow.  Cran I Have Seconds Please? is a gorgeous purple-leaning magenta holographic polish with blurple flakes that will be available exclusively in the Llarowe November A Box, Indied. Let's look at some pictures of this beauty, and I'll give more details afterwards.

The formula of this polish was really smooth, and it applied very easily for me. I used two coats of Cran I Have Seconds Please? and followed up with Glisten & Glow's HK Girl topcoat for these photos. I am really blown away by this colour, and I can definitely see it being a fan favorite from the November box!

The November A Box, Indied is currently scheduled to be released October 26th at Llarowe.com. I have one of the other polishes from the November box to share with you later this week, and you don't want to miss out! I haven't seen the remaining three polishes yet, but if Cran I Have Seconds Please? and the other I have seen are any indication on what the box will be like, it is going to sell out fast! I am so excited about this box!

DIFFERENT dimension Heavy Metals Collection

Good afternoon, dear readers, and happy Friday! This week has just flown by, and I am quite happy about that! I'm looking forward to a productive but still fun weekend. For today's post, I wanted to share the new Heavy Metals Collection by DIFFERENT dimension being released this evening. This collection is a steampunk-inspired collection, and it consists of six rich metallic holographic polishes and two glitter toppers that complement the holographic shades  ever so nicely. Let's look at some swatches!

Silver Lining

Silver Lining is a platinum silver coloured metallic holographic polish that is opaque in two coats. I love silver polishes, and this one is gorgeous! The formula was really nice as well, and it applied so easily for me.

Foiled Again

Foiled Again is a gunmetal foil metallic coloured holographic polish that is opaque in two coats. This is one of my favorites from this collection, but then I tend to be drawn towards darker grey shades in general. The formula was perfect with this one as well!

Copper-Bottomed

Copper-bottomed is a copper coloured metallic holographic polish that is opaque in two coats. I'm sure you already know that with my love of all things orange, this copper polish is one of my favorites from this collection! The formula was smooth and perfect for this one as well.

Bold As Brass

Bold As Brass is a bronzey-brass coloured metallic holographic polish with blue shimmer that is opaque in two coats. This is arguably my favorite shade from the Heavy Metal collection! I'm pretty crazy about this base colour, and the shimmer is a nice touch. The formula is superb, and it applied really smoothly for me.

Pedal to the Metal

over Bold As Brass

Pedal to the Metal is one of the glitter toppers, and it is composed of holographic and metallic glitters in gold, gunmetal, silver, copper and bronze in a variety of shapes and sizes. I really like glitter toppers, and this is a fun one! The glitters broke up pretty easily for me overall, but they do clump together if you're not patient. I used around a coat of this glitter topper by dabbing it on my nails. I then smoothed my nails out with HK Girl topcoat.

All That Glitters is Not Gold

All That Glitters Is Not Gold is a yellow gold coloured metallic holographic polish with added golden shimmer. It is opaque in two coats. I never really considered myself a fan of yellow gold, but I am really liking this colour. The formula is also really nice, and application was perfect.

Hearts of Steel

over All That Glitters Is Not Gold

Hearts of Steel is the second glitter topper, and it is composed of holographic and metallic glitters in gold, copper, and rose pink in a variety of shapes and sizes. It is my favorite of the two glitter toppers; I just love the combination of gold with pink! I feel like Hearts of Steel was easier to apply and the glitters dispersed easier for me than with Pedal to the Metal, but then I think I was a little slower in the application on my nails to help get it to disperse better. I also really like the really small glitters mixed in with the larger ones. I dabbed on about a coat of Hearts of Steel and then topped my nails off with HK Girl topcoat for these photos.

Heart of Rose Gold

Heart of Rose Gold is a rose gold metallic holographic polish with added shimmer; it is opaque in two coats. I really like the colour of rose gold, and I am thrilled to see that there is one in this collection. Like the other holographic polishes, the formula was superb!

At first I wasn't sure how I would feel about an all-metallic collection, but I am so glad that Missi created one! I like having a range of options available by a brand that I know and trust, and you really can't go wrong with any of these beauties!
