Literary Lacquers Community Collection Part I

Press Sample

Good evening, dear readers! I have a few polishes from the Literary Lacquers Community Collection to share with you tonight, and are they pretty! I didn't want a crazy photo-heavy post, so I decided to start with just four of the polishes whose subject matter is near and dear to my heart. So I'm not repeating myself throughout the post, I used three coats of polish for each of these swatches, and I followed up with Glisten & Glow's HK Girl top coat. Let's get started!

Love You Forever
WOW WOW WOW WOW WOW! That was the only thing I could think when I painted Love You Forever on my nails. I usually have a difficult time with medium to light blue shades clashing horribly with my skin tone, and I was expecting to love this colour but not on me. I actually really liked it on me, and I am so excited about that! The application of this beauty was flawless- the polish was not to thick or thin and smooth as buttah! This is no surprise for me as I've grown to learn that Literary Lacquers releases polishes only of the greatest quality, but it still needs to be said.

This beautiful medium blue crelly holo was designed by Crisdee Luna Michie and was inspired by her daughter and the sweet children's book of the same name. I've been reading this to my son since I was pregnant, and I get a little teary-eyed whenever I read it.

Sidewalk's End
Oh grey, how much do I love thee and how much do you not like me! I never feel like I can quite pull off grey polish, but this beauty is still a necessity for any polish collector! I love Shel Silverstein's work to this day, and I have a few of his collections to share with my son when he gets older.

This lovely sidewalk grey holo with multicolored glass fleck was designed by LA Salzy.

Goodnight Moon
Ah, another classic child's story! Are you sensing a theme for me yet? We actually have two copies of the book that inspired this polish, one of which was my husband's when he was little. I've actually been hoping for a polish exactly like this, and I am so happy to see it in Literary Lacquers' collection! I'm happy to report that it applied easily enough, and I did not have to dig around for the moons at any point while painting my nails with Goodnight Moon.

Amy describes this sweet creation as a twilight blue jelly sandwich in a bottle with holo sparkle, silver glitter and blue and silver moons. This polish was designed by Tami of the blog The Manicured Mermaid.

Phenomenal Woman
Last, but not least, (for this post anyway) is Phenomenal Woman, designed by me! I had to think a little while about what I wanted to use as inspiration for my polish, and I decided on the poem Phenomenal Woman by Maya Angelou. I wanted my polish to be strong and confident, and this burgundy to purple shifty goodness hits it right on the head. I love that this polish is so complex, and I am honored to be able to contribute to the collection. The formula on this was excellent, and I'm reasonably sure I'm not biased because its mine. ;)

These and the remaining polishes from the Community Collection (and all the other amazing collections for that matter) can be purchased at the Literary Lacquer etsy shop.

What are your thoughts on this collection? Do you have a favorite? I love that so many great minds went in on this!
