LynBDesigns: Spark of Madness Collection

Good afternoon, dear readers! I hope this post finds you well and you have had a good start to the week. Today's post features a sentimental collection made by LynBDesigns. The Spark of Madness Collection is a tribute to the late Robin Williams. He was a constant source of laughter and joy throughout my life, a sentiment I am sure is shared with many of you, and I am touched that Jenna created this collection in his honor. There are ten polishes in this collection; let's check them out.

Friends Come in All Sizes

Death to Smoochy

Friends Come in All Sizes is a beautiful dark violet polish that is packed with gold and pink flakes. Because of the density of the flakes, it does have a little bit of a textured finish. I used three coats plus top coat for these photos. The formula was pretty easy to work with, especially with all the flakes!

Seize the Day, Boys

Jenna had not told me the inspiration behind her collection when I received these polishes, but I knew as soon as I saw the name on this bottle of Seize the Day, Boys. I haven't seen Dead Poets Society in such a long time, but it is one of the Robin Williams films I loved. It is such a gorgeous shade- a green leaning teal with gold flakes, and this is one of my favorites from the collection. I used three coats plus top coat for these photos.

Nanu Nanu

Mork & Mindy

I had such a difficult time getting a colour accurate photo of Nanu Nanu! It is a peachy orange crelly base and the first picture is the most accurate. It is close enough to orange so you know this is one of my favorites from this collection! The formula was really nice, and the glitters spread out easily over my nails. I used three coats plus top coat for these photos.

Make Your Life Spectacular

This is such a pretty polish, and I am so sad it doesn't work against my skin tone! The base shade is a lovely lilac, and it flashes pink at certain angles. It is such a delicate colour, and I plan to use it by layering over a base colour that complements my skin tone more. I think it will make a stunning topper! I used three coats of Make Your Life Spectacular for these photos.

Oh Captain, My Captain

Are you still with me, dear readers? I knew Oh Captain, My Captain was going to be something special, but I still wasn't prepared for this amazingness on my nails. This gorgeous multichrome shifts from red to green to gold, and depending on your light source, it can look more of an olive green or a stunning bronze shade, and can even include a super dark plummy purple. Oh Captain, My Captain applied in three easy coats for these photos.

Oh, There You Are, Peter

As I was unwrapping these polishes and saw the names, I was getting a little choked up and teary-eyed, but seeing the name on Oh, There You Are, Peter is what made me break down in tears. There was just something so sweet and powerful about the moment Pockets recognized Robin Williams as Peter Pan, and even though it was not a line by Williams, I am so glad it is part of the collection. Something I found interesting about this polish is the chartreuse flakes against the lime base gives it the illusion of a heavily textured polish. It does dry to a slight textured finish because of the flakes and glitters, and I used three coats with top coat for these photos.  

Keep Your Chin Up

Keep Your Chin up is a cool bronze polish that has a slight shift to a more golden shade. It also contains blue flakes; it is such a unique polish! This one was a little harder for me to work with as it was much thicker than the other polishes in the collection. The lid was really loose with some leaking from shipping, and I suspect this is the culprit for the more difficult formula. A couple drops of thinner fixed it right up for me! I used two coats for these photos.

Fosse, Fosse, Fosse

The Birdcage

The Birdcage is such a fabulous film, and Fosse, Fosse, Fosse is so perfect to represent it! The mint-coloured base contains shimmers that range from blue to green and a light red. Unfortunately I couldn't get a great picture of the shimmers without having to include some glare on my nails. Formula-wise, it was a little streaky for the first two coats, but it leveled out pretty nicely with the third coat.

Fight Fire with Marshmallows

Perhaps it is the name, but I cannot help but think about S'mores when it comes to this glitter-filled brown jelly. It contains gold glitters in a range of shapes and sizes, triangles in black and white, matte pink hexes, and sparse purple glitters in a shape that I can't quite pin down. Glitter jellies can be a little tricky to work with, but I found Fight Fire With Marshmallows to be very easy to work with. The glitters dispersed quite nicely over my nails. I used three coats plus top coat in these photos.

Phenomenal Cosmic Powers

Aladdin

Itty bitty living space. I watched Aladdin with my toddler recently, and I am still in love with this movie! This polish has amazing shimmer and is another one of my top picks from this collection. I used three coats for these photos.

Elevation Polish: My Fall Picks Swatch Spam

Happy Monday, dear readers! I hope you have had a wonderful start to a new week! As for me, I've got a case of the Mondays, but I do have five stunning shades by Elevation Polish to make it better! Lu has a new collection that will be debuting tomorrow evening, but I wanted today's post to be a flashback on polishes from earlier collections that still scream Fall to me. I hope you're ready for some awesome holos! Let's do this!

Bohai Sea

I go through phases when it comes to colour: I love a colour family for a little while before I move on to the next one. Recently, I have developed a love of cerulean blues, so naturally I had to put Bohai Sea on my list! I love it for Fall because it adds brightness to the darker colours usually found during the season without being too intense. Bohai Sea is one of those shades that just seems to work for every season, and if you can only have one Elevation Polish, I would pick this one for that reason alone. Bohai Sea is very pigmented, and while I used two coats for these photos, I might have got away with just one if I painted my nails just a tad thicker than I normally do. The formula is really nice, and it painted easily for me.

This is one sexy brown polish! If you would have told me five years ago that I would be in love with a brown polish, I would have thought you were crazy! Shades of brown tend to be popular this time of year, and there is just something about this one that I cannot get over. It is a red-based brown, and I find this shade to be so warm and inviting. I used two flawless coats for these photos.

Aconcagua

It should come as no surprise to you that I put an orange polish on this list; I can't get enough of them! I've been drawn to jelly polishes lately, so Aconcagua is a win-win for me. If trying to match seasons is important to you, this shade is a good one that can be worn throughout most of the year. I personally don't associate orange with Winter, but then I'm the kind of person that would wear this year round anyway. It is a great pick for Fall, Spring, or Summer though! I used two perfect coats for these photos. There was still a little bit of visible nail line, but that is to be expected with jelly-based polishes.

If darker browns like Aiguilles d'Arves aren't really your thing, perhaps you would like something like Everest 2. This deep taupe is another fabulous shade, and I love the subtle flashes of copper shimmer! Darker browns are more my style, but I had to include this beauty on my list. I used two coats for these photos, and like the other polishes I've shared already, the formula was great on this one too!

I don't think I've shared a green polish on my blog in a while! I actually really like greens, and this olive green shade is one of my top green picks in addition to being a Fall pick for today's post. Now that I am sitting here and writing this post, I think I may have to use this again in some Halloween nail art; it is certainly a great shade for that too! Epidote 2 appeals to the rock hound in me as well, and I think I need to check out the rest of the Stones Throw Collection. I used two flawless coats for these swatch photos.

November A Box, Indied: Colors by Llarowe Turkey Coma

Good afternoon, dear readers! It is a beautiful day here in Northern California, and I am eagerly waiting for it to start to feel like Fall. To help get into the Fall spirit, I wanted to share pictures of the new Colors by Llarowe polish that will be exclusive to the November A Box, Indied sold at Llarowe.com. The theme for November's box is "A Cornucopia of Color", and Turkey Coma is the perfect addition to this particular box! Let's check out some photos!

I have been trying to decide how to describe this shade, but nothing seems quite appropriate. Indoors it seems more of a slightly rusty coral, but it softens in the sunlight with a salmon pink tint. It is one complex polish, and it is perfect for the Fall season! The colour is gorgeous, and the name is very appropriate for the upcoming Thanksgiving holiday here in the US.

The formula of Turkey Coma was nice, and it applied very easily for me. I didn't find the consistency to be too thick or too thin, and overall, I was really happy with this beauty. I used two coats of Turkey Coma and followed up with Glisten & Glow's HK Girl topcoat for these photos.
