Stained Glass with China Glaze Cheers!

Good morning, dear readers! I have an easy nail art look I wanted to share with you today. I was really taken with the glitter-packed jelly nail polishes in the new China Glaze Cheers! holiday collection, and I was eager to create a manicure with one. Ugly Sweater Party really spoke to me; I paired it with Mix and Mingle to create my simple stained glass look. Check it out!

Ugly Sweater Party has the occasional flash of blurple with some of its glitters, and Mix and Mingle plays nicely with them. I used the mosaic stencils from YouPolish for this look. 

I'm definitely digging the sparkle in these nails! They're just so pretty!

China Glaze: Cheers! Holiday Collection

Happy Friday, dear readers! It has been such a busy week here at the Jedi household! With the first week of December rushing to a close, I have been working fervently on craft projects. I am happy to report that I have already finished making most of the items I had planned for gifting and I've even started getting some shipped out! It feels so good to be ahead of schedule and able to enjoy a more relaxed holiday for a change!

I'm sure I'm not the only one enjoying the holiday bustle right now, and I thought today would be the perfect time to share the new China Glaze Cheers! collection released for this holiday season. Because I so rarely wear a single polish shade on my nails, I wanted to do something a little differently with this collection and show how I would to combine these shades for a colourful nail look. By using two or more colours on different nails, you end up with something more exciting without the time needed for elaborate nail art. Let's check out the collection!

This combination is all about the red! While I like these colours on their own, sometimes the deeper oxblood red is too dark and the brighter red is a little, well, bright depending on my mood. I love having these two shades together in general, and I especially love that they have different finishes! Mixing different finishes is something I just NEED to do; it adds a fabulous dimension to your nails!

I preferred this pairing more when I had the bottles next to each other. I do love each of these nail polishes though so they'll be getting a lot of love this holiday season even if they aren't worn like this!

Easy to work with and great glitter dispersal. This would be great as a single coat layered over a similar shade too!

If the holiday blues are bringing you down, try adding a touch of green and a lot of sparkle to cheer you up! I am going gaga for this polish combination! Apparently combining darker shades with a brighter one is my thing right now!

The formula is quite thin. Next time I wear this, I'm going to sponge it on so the sponge can absorb some of the excess clear lacquer.

Great formula to work with! This can also be layered over a similar colour if you prefer using fewer coats but want to avoid visible nail line.

I often end up wearing black and either gold or silver for my New Year's Eve manicure; this year I'm thinking of adding just a little more colour to the combination. I haven't fully committed to this combination yet, but I do like the brightness that this red-orange shade adds to the mix.

Formula was easy to work with a glitters spread nicely over the nail. This is another shade that would be great layered over a similar shade.

Indigo Bananas Black Based Beauties

Happy hump day, dear readers! It is a grey and rainy day so far here in Northern California for me, so what could be better than a post featuring some dark shades with pops of colour! In a recent post, I shared several brighter polishes by Indigo Bananas that I love, and I thought today would be the perfect day to share two black-based polishes that are beautiful as well. Let's check them out!

When Are We?

With shiny top coat

With matte top coat

A black jelly filled with a unique shimmer that twinkles multiple colors, and at some angles shifts green blue.  This shimmer is similar to the Clarins/'unicorn pee' shimmer (which is what is in several other IB polishes such as Hole in the Sky and Gods & Monsters), and therefore it "glows" and looks different than other similar shimmers.

Wait, what's this? Polish photos with matte top coat?!? I picked up yet another bottle of matte top coat and it seems as though the gnomes that stole all my bottles before I could even use them are no longer interested in the matte finish. Seriously, I have had four bottles disappear on me and still have no clue what happened to them. I digress so let me get back to the polish...

When Are We? is a beautiful polish, and I adore the colourful pops of glitter against the dark background. The formula was really nice and easy to work with; I used three coats plus top coat for these photos. I prefer When Are We? to be shiny, but it is still pretty as a matte.

Rainbow in the Dark is one of those polishes that gave me a flashback to when I was a little girl. Story time! For as long as I could remember, I recalled being at a location peering down into a body of water and seeing a sunken pirate ship that was falling apart and littered with the skeletons of the crew. Sharks wove around the broken wooden mast and a rainbow appeared on the water's surface. Surely this was just a dream, but it all seemed so real to me. Many years later when I was 18, we took a family trip to Hawaii and visited the Pearl Harbor Memorial. As soon as I looked down at the water as the sunken USS Arizona, this memory came rushing back to me. Obviously the details were embellished in my five year old mind, but it suddenly made sense. The rainbow flakes against the black base remind me of the oil droplets creating the rainbow effect at the water's surface.

Rainbow in the Dark is gorgeous in either shiny or the matte state. Even with all the flakes, it was really easy to work with and I had no trouble with the formula. I used three coats plus top coat for these photos.

These two shades are beautiful, and I love the combination of colour against the black base! It's the time of year where it rains all the time here, and I am going to be wearing these a lot!
