I love to travel, but what I don't like is having to schlep so much "stuff" with me. Now that I'm a mom of two relatively young children, I have to carry so much extra stuff for them; the last thing I want to do is bring yet another bag for myself. Thankfully they're at the stage where it is now getting easier and I need less for them, but I still prefer to travel as light as possible. This mentality crosses over into my skincare and makeup routine, and now I have an easy way to take exactly what I need with me without giving up precious space. After all, the decision of TSA to limit us to only a quart-sized bag for carrying on liquids must not have been made by a skin care aficionado! Thankfully, I have the
MYO Cosmetic Clutch to keep me covered! I've taken this baby with me on a few excursions, and I definitely have some thoughts about it.
Before I delve too far into my thoughts, let's start with the basics: what is a MYO Cosmetic Clutch and what comes with the kit? The MYO Cosmetic Clutch is a sleek and durable case with a snap closure designed to keep your cosmetics, smaller makeup accessories, and skincare products in one beautiful package the size of a large cell phone. One side has a magnetic backing designed to hold more eco-conscious single magnetic makeup pans, reducing the unnecessary packaging and waste in other products. On the other size is a rather sizable mirror, so you'll never find yourself having the squint to try and figure out how your makeup application is really turning out.
Along the outer lip of the MYO Cosmetic Clutch is a removable circlet that serves as a gasket. When closed, this allows for a secure seal that prevents any loose powder or liquid accidents on the inside from leaking out and all over your hand bag. They can be easily popped out for a thorough clean when needed, but then pop right back into their proper home when dry. The circlet for my MYO Cosmetic Clutch is black, but they are also available in silver, fuchsia, and turquoise. This is a fun way to not only add a pop of colour to your clutch, but also to keep multiple clutches organized and the contents readily identifiable. Do you want your "day" makeup selection to be turquoise and your more dramatic "night" set to be black? What about adding in a third case for skin care products and making that one fuchsia? When the clutch is closed, you can easily see the colour of the circlet so there is no need to rummage and open and close your clutches to find the exact one you are looking for. While I initially thought one would be enough, but after my usage with mine, I know I need at least one more in my life!
In addition to the circlet, the MYO Cosmetic Clutch comes with three MYO Beauty Pods (one large and two small), two MYO Style Sticks, and a double ended eyeshadow/brow brush. The MYO Style Sticks are flexible magnetic divider sticks that can be moved around to any orientation that you wish. Some readers may choose to use them as a visual separation between products, such as separating your powders on one side and Beauty Pods on the other. Others still may wish to position them to keep brushes or pencils secured within a specific area of their case. How you use them is entirely up to you! The included brush is also a nice little addition to have if you would rather not have to keep all your makeup brushes on hand and works reasonably well with application of products. While I personally prefer to travel with my full-sized brushes, this is a great option for those that like smaller travel-sized versions.
As I mentioned previously, the
MYO Cosmetic Clutch comes with three Beauty Pods, and you can see them in action in the above photo. Each kit comes with a larger pod and two smaller pods. These pods push close to a secure seal that keeps even your liquids from leaking! On the underside of the pods is a magnet, so you can rest assured that they will stay securely wherever you opt to place them within your clutch. This innovative product allows you to take just the proper amount of product with you, be it to the gym, on a short travel excursion, or even just in your bag should you want your products readily available throughout the day. By allowing you to have "just enough" product, you are not wasting valuable space with larger full sized containers, and the secure seal keeps your products staying fresh until you use it. Now that's what I call a win-win! I've been filling up my pods with a range of products from my very fluid foundations to daily moisturizers to thicker night creams, and I have not had a single issue of product leaking out and into the palette. As the expression goes, mileage may vary depending on how much product you use at any given time, but I have easily had enough products for several days with just these pods. The Beauty Pods are also excellent for carrying your pans that are not magnetic (if you would rather not buy magnetic stickers for them) or if you prefer a physical barrier for cream products to prevent powder contamination.
