Good afternoon, dear readers! I hope you have been having a wonderful week. For today's blog post, I wanted to share the Fall China Glaze The Great Outdoors Collection with you. I wanted to do something a little different than just swatching, and I decided to create several easy nail art looks spanning the entire 12 piece collection. Let's do this!
First up, the easiest look to accomplish. All you have to do is paint your nails!
I know, I know, it's just too easy. I originally intended this to be the base for something more elaborate, but I just loved these duochromes so much I couldn't bear the thought of covering them. They were also sheerer than I had expected so I had to scrap the design I planned.
Colours Used:
Cabin Fever
Pink to copper duo chrome
3 coats needed for opacity
Pondering
Deep amethyst duo chrome
3 coats needed for opacity
Up next is something a little more complex. I was inspired by Sleeping Under the Stars and went with a touch of twinkle to the night sky.
Star light, star bright, first star I see tonight.... I really love how these colours pair together! It's like they were made for each other!
Colours used:
Sleeping Under the Stars
Dark blue with stardust shimmer
2 coats needed for opacity
Let's Dew It
Multi dimensional blue gray glitter
3 coats shown here
I had hoped to reach opacity with just three coats, but as you can see, I need at least one more if not two coats. It wasn't quite as obvious to the eye, but my camera definitely is showcasing the bare nail peaking out!
On to the next look!
This bright light lime really sticks out in the collection, and I was surprised to see it was named S'more Fun. I don't know about you, but I'm not eating S'mores that colour! I naturally had to correct the issue in my head and paired it with the gorgeous brown in the collection with this easy toothpick manicure. I LOVE how these two different colours and finishes play off each other!
Colours Used:
Wood You Wanna?
Rich brown burgundy metallic
2 coats used here, 1 may be enough for opacity for some people
S'more Fun
Adventurous lemon lime crème
2 coats needed for opacity
Wood You Wanna? have S'more Fun? You betcha! How about s'more nail art looks! These last two are still pretty easy although a little more complex.
I love this look! I was inspired by Gone Glamping to create this design. One of my favorite things from camping is hearing the sound of rain on the tent, and I wanted to pair it with this sultry glamorous colour combination. I also used droplet stencils from YouPolish to get this look.
Colours used:
My Lodge Or Yours?
Natural mauve crème
2 coats for opacity
Free Bear Hugs
Deep black red crème
2 coats for opacity, thin consistency so beware of flooding
This one did not want to photograph properly for me. It was either blown out and too light or blurry with colour accuracy. At least it's a creme, right? Oy!
Gone Glamping
Gold to green duo chrome
3 coats needed for opacity
How gorgeous is this polish! This is definitely a favorite from the collection, and I'm not a huge fan of duochromes!
And one last look for the remaining shades....
I just had to embrace the natural look for this manicure. I also got to test the stamping abilities of two of the polishes by using a stamping plate from Born Pretty Store.
Colours used:
Change Your Altitude
Pebble greige crème
2 coats for opacity
Take a Hike
Rich mossy green crème
2 coats for opacity
Check Out the Silver Fox
Metallic gunmetal gray
2 coats shown here, you may only need 1 for opacity
I really enjoyed this challenge of creating nail art looks using all the shades from this collection, and I hope you love them! All the designs are easy to create, and I like how the colours play together.
What are your favorite shades from The Great Outdoor Collection? How would you combine them for nail art looks? I'd love to hear from you!
Until next time, dear readers, have a wonderful day!
XO!
