(scrub) off with the old with Pūrlisse Coconut Oil + Coffee Sugar Body Scrub

Press Sample

Bath and shower time is generally my quiet time, barring the rare occasion when my three year old opts to crash my shower. There is just something about the sound of the water coming out of the shower head and the warm water on my skin that gets me in a zen and relaxed state. On a daily basis, my showers are generally pretty quick as I opted to hit the snooze button to get a blissful nine more minutes of sleep, but on the days I don't hit snooze or, even better, the days I get to sleep in without an alarm, I like to use a scrub to slough off dead skin and give my body an ultra luxurious treatment. I had the opportunity to try out the Pūrlisse Coconut Oil + Coffee Sugar Body Scrub and wanted to share my thoughts about this scrub with you today. Let's jump in!

The Coconut Oil + Coffee Sugar Body Scrub packs quite a punch as a luxurious body treatment that exfoliates, polishes, and hydrates the skin. The coconut oil works to soften the skin while sugar cane gently exfoliates away the dead skin cells, leaving behind ultra smooth and glowing skin. Like the sugar cane, the coffee grounds also aid to exfoliate the skin with the added bonus of caffeine that reinvigorates the skin and improves circulation.

When I first received this product to review, I was ambivalent about trying it. While I am a fan of coffee and sugar scrub in general, coconut oil is usually a no-go for me when it comes to body products. While I love all things coconut, coconut oil unfortunately has a drying effect on my skin, not the hydrating results planned by Pūrlisse. That being said, I set aside my concerns, squeezed a portion onto my fingers, and went to town massaging this scrub onto my skin.

Spoiler Alert: THIS SCRUB IS THE BEES KNEES!

While coconut oil isn't ideal for my skin, the Pūrlisse Coconut Oil + Coffee Sugar Body Scrub contains so much more than these key ingredients in it's name. It also contains cupuaçu seed and shea butter for an indulgent moisturizing treatment to the skin. There is also mongongo seed and moringa oils to nourish the skin and prevent aging. While not particularly helpful for moisturizing the skin, I would also like to note that this scrub contains fruit extracts to promote skin elasticity, clarity, and suppleness.

To use, simply massage onto damp skin in a circular motion and rinse off with warm water. This is coarse enough that you are aware that you are exfoliating the skin, but I found it to still be quite comfortable on my skin during use. I also really like that the sugar and coffee grounds rinsed off easily. After recently trying another scrub that required a full washing afterwards to remove product, it made me appreciate this one even more! I prefer to use this scrub after washing my body. Once I have rinsed off the scrub, I hop out of the shower and gently pat my skin dry with a towel. By using this method, the residual butters and oils can get better absorbed into my skin for an incredible moisturizing treatment.

  1. I've tried quite a few skincare and bodycare products from Pur-lisse via my Ipsy bags, and I have really liked them. In fact, I think I got a travel size of the coffee scrub and if it's the one I'm thinking of I absolutely loved it. It smelled so good.
