Add Bling to Your Nails with LynB Designs Shimmer Me This

Press Sample

Ah, Facebook groups! While I am not a member of every single Facebook group in existence by any means, I am part of many that cover a range of interests. It seems that no matter  what catches your attention, there just may be a Facebook group for you! As for myself, I am a lover of all things shiny and sparkly, so it should come to no surprise that I am a member of the Precious Metals, Gems, & Jewels Polish Goddesses group. If you're not already a member of the group, now is a really great time to join: LynB Designs has created a nail polish that will be available exclusively to group members.

Shimmer Me Timbers is described by Jenna, the owner of the brand, as a rose gold flakie bomb with silver galaxy holo and linear holographic sparkle.

Now this is one sparkly polish! I love the colour of rose gold, so I am particularly excited to see that Jenna went this direction with her group exclusive shade. While it may be jam packed with all sorts of sparkled goodness, I had no issues with application onto the nail. The formula is a little thicker than seen from main stream nail polish brands, but it is the normal consistency I've come to expect from LynB Designs. While I personally prefer this slightly thicker consistency, you can easily add a few drops of nail polish thinner if you prefer a thinner polish.

I was easily able to reach opacity with two easy coats. Unless you paint with extremely thin coats or have very long nails, I anticipate two coats being sufficient for most people. The final look is slightly textured due to all the components, and I was able to smooth everything out nicely with a layer of top coat, as shown in these photos.

My apologies for this last photo as my camera pulled it a little more towards to orange colour spectrum, but look how much sparkle is in this polish!

Shimmer Me This will be available for purchase from the LynB Designs website from this Friday, June 22nd through June 29th. It will be marked up significantly on the site to prevent non-Facebook group members from purchasing it. Prior to the launch, a special discount code will be posted in the Precious Metals, Gems, & Jewels Polish Goddesses Facebook Group. Shimmer Me This will retail for $10 per bottle with the discount code.

Are you a fan of rose gold polishes? What other precious metals or gemstones are you hoping to see inspire future group exclusives? I'd love to hear from you!

Until next time, dear reader, have a wonderful day!

Psych-Inspired Nail Polish: I've Heard It Both Ways by LynB Designs

Press Sample

Greetings, dear readers, and happy Monday! I hope you had a wonderful weekend and the new week is off to a fabulous start! As you can probably tell, it has been a busy one around here! Rest assured, you are in the correct place; The Jedi Wife has been rebranded to Laugh, Love, Contour! There was supposed to be a whole new look as well, but things unfortunately fell through at the last minute. I have a new look in store for you as well to go along with the name change so be on the lookout for that. I had debated on holding off on posting until everything was done, but I've got beautiful things to share and can't hold off any longer. With that said, let's jump on in!

Are you a fan of the television show Psych? If so, do I have something special for you! LynB Designs has created a custom thermal nail polish for the Facebook group Polish My Fandom and it is available for purchase now! Let's check it out!

Blue-toned green to blue thermal with a ton of blue to green to gold shifting iridescent flakies and iridescent shifting glitters.
Hello, gorgeous! This polish is so pretty to look at, and I just love the thermal colour change! While the inspiration is from Psych, this is something that I can envision mermaids wearing on their nails; you know I'm going to be sporting this beauty while at the beach this summer!
I've Heard It Both Ways is a little sheer and will have to be built up to opacity, but this sheerness really allows the iridescent flakies and glitters to sparkle perfectly. I found the formula to be a little uneven with the first two coats, but the third coat evened out my nails nicely. This third coat also was necessary to reach opacity although those with longer nails may find they need an extra coat. I recommend not painting with very thin coats as this can cause the flakies to dig into the polish and shift it around if you aren't careful. I have added a layer of top coat for these photos.
Thermal polishes are sadly a little wasted on me when I have short nails as I really throw out some heat and I usually only ever see the warm state. If my nails are lengthy with overhang beyond my fingertips, I can enjoy the gradient effect. Thankfully my nubbins had grown out enough that you can see some of the gradient effect in the previous photos. To get a better look at the cold state, the following set of photos feature this polish after dipping my hands in cold water. My nails never keep the full cold state for long so you will see a little of the blue warm state closer to my cuticles, but at least you can see the gorgeous blue-tones green colour more. Check it out!
I adore this shade, and it will make spending time in the cold Pacific Ocean here in Northern California much more enjoyable!

I've Heard It Both Ways is available for purchase from LynB Designs now! Please note that you MUST be a member of the Polish My Fandom Facebook group in order to purchase this polish. Once you are a member of the group, you can find the discount code which marks this polish down to $10. It is available for purchase as a pre-order through June 14th- that's this Thursday- so be sure to join and get your orders in as soon as possible! It is only available for this limited time, and you do not want to miss out!

Are you already a member of the Polish My Fandom Facebook group? Have you preordered I've Heard It Both Ways already? What fandoms are you looking forward to seeing as inspiration in the future? I'd love to hear from you!

Until next time, dear readers, have a wonderful day!

LynB Designs for June Polish Pickup: Your Cow Plant or Mine?

Press Sample

Happy hump day, dear readers! I am back with another Polish Pickup post for you before the shop opening this Friday!

As I mentioned in my previous post, the theme for the June Polish Pickup is Video Games, and the makers participating this month have quite a selection of stunning nail polishes that will be available for purchase. For today's blog post, I have the offering created by LynB Designs to share with you. A wildly popular life simulation game series is The Sims, and this is where Jenna, the artist behind the brand, pulled her inspiration to suit the Video Game theme. Your Cow Plant or Mine? was specifically inspired by the bizarrely cute? scary? adorable? (YOU DECIDE) bovine vegetation found within the game. This polish is for all you flakie lovers out there! Check it out!

Your Cow Plant or Mine? starts off with a gorgeous light minty green base with added magenta to purple to gold shifting shimmer, scattered holographic micro shreds, and a metric ton (slight exaggeration, but still A LOT) of purple to blue to red AND blue to green to gold shifting UCC flakies. Jenna did not hold back on the flakies with this beauty! In spite of containing so many flakies, the application was quite nice! Not too thick or thin for my preference, it applied easily for an even finish to opacity with three coats. It was almost a two coater for me, so depending on how thickly you tend to apply polish to your nails, you may find that two will suffice. I had no trouble with the flakies clumping or even digging into the base shade like I occasionally do.

Your Cow Plant or Mine? will be available for purchase from the Polish Pickup website from this Friday, June 1st through Monday, June 4th ONLY. It will retail for $12 per bottle, and there is no limit to the number of bottles that will be made available for shoppers.

Please note that all purchases made through the Polish Pickup is submitted as a pre-order and to allow three weeks until shipping.

Are you in flakie heaven with this stunning shade? I just love the combination of these flakies with the base shade! Will you be picking this up from the Polish Pickup this weekend? What other shades do you have your eye on?

Until next time, dear readers, have a wonderful day!
XO!

LynB Designs June 2018 Polish of the Month: Alexandrine

Press Sample

Greetings, dear readers, and happy hump day! This week has been flying by quickly, and I have a three-day holiday weekend to look forward to! We're not really big fans of traveling for holiday weekends and prefer to avoid the crowds, so we're going to be staying close to home and trying to get some home repairs taken care of. I'm so fancy, right? Haha! Now on to today's blog post!

With May quickly coming to a close, that means another month is upon us to include a new Polish of the Month by LynB Designs! Jenna, the creative mastermind behind the brand, has opted to pull her inspiration for the monthly polishes from birthstones each month, and she has been knocking it out of the park with every release! She selected Alexandrite for her June inspiration, and Alexandrine will be launching this week! Let's get a closer look at this beauty!

Like its inspiration, Alexandrine is a unique and complex polish! Alexandrine starts off with a reddish brown base shade and contains intense red to green to purple shifting shimmer and blue to purple iridescent flakes. Alexandrine was a little tricky for my camera to photograph, and the green shift in particular was much more obvious in real life than in the photo above.

Away from my light setup and at certain angles, the red and purple shifts came out to play. This is such a fun and pretty polish!

I have no issues regarding the formula to report about Alexandrine. It is slightly on the thicker side as I've come to expect from indie polishes in general, but it certainly was not too thick to apply to the nails. I had no issue with it whatsoever and had no need to add thinner to it. The first coat was the slightest bit streaky, but it evened out nicely with a second coat. I wore it with two coats plus top coat for these photos.

Alexandrine will be launching this Friday, May 25th at noon EST. It will retail for $10. LynB Designs is also going to be having a special Memorial Day sale this week starting at the same time, so if you want to save some money, be sure to pick it up this week for half off the normal price! Two polishes for the price of one? Oh, yeah, sign me up!

Are you a June baby? Will you be adding Alexandrine to the rest of your birthday Polish of the Month polishes? What other LynB Designs shades are you thinking of picking up during the Memorial Day sale? I'd love to hear from you!

Until next time, dear readers, have a wonderful night!
XO!

A Preview of the LynB Designs Happy Potter Spells Collection

Press Sample

Greetings, dear readers! I am back home after my trip to New York City and my body has no idea what time zone it is in! Hopefully another day or two and everything is back to normal. I'll have my post up on The Makeup Show soon so keep an eye out for it!

For this evening's post, I am excited to share with you the upcoming Harry Potter Spells Collection by LynB Designs. It has been a little while since Jenna, the creative mastermind behind the brand, has released a Harry Potter inspired collection, and I am excited to see one inspired by the spells! I've been a fan of the books and movies for a long time now; it is always fun to see someone's interpretations of the various elements of the story! Now on to the photos!

Sectumsempra
Two coats plus top coat

A deep red polish with pink to orange flakes and red orange holographic shimmer.

This polish is beautiful and these photos just don't do it justice! The colour is fabulous, and the formula was pretty easy to work with. I did have the occasional flake overhang off my nails, but they were easy to just pull off or push back up onto the nail.

Retail: $10

Obliviate
Two coats plus top coat

A mauvey base with intense blue to purple to red to orange shifting shimmer and holographic micro shreds.

I love everything about Obliviate! It just might be my favorite shade in this collection! The formula was not too thick or thin for my taste and applied perfectly!

Retail: $10

Accio!
Two coats plus top coat

A black base polish with red to copper to gold shifting shimmer and orange to green shifting micro glitters.

Accio! is another stunning from this collection that is sure to win a lot of hearts! The formula is top notch and applies beautifully to the nails.

Retail: $10

Colovaria
Three coats plus top coat

Purple to green thermal with green to blue to purple shifting shimmer and blue to purple shifting flakies.

It is so exciting to see LynB Designs putting out thermal nail polishes! Seafoam green in a warm state and purple in cold, I adore both the versions of this polish. The formula is nice although I found the application to be a little tricky. Between the colour change of the base and the colour change of the flakies, it was surprisingly tricky to determine how to evenly polish my nails. While this is entirely a personal issue, it is something to note as others may have a similar issue.

Retail: $10

Expecto Patronum
Three coats plus top coat

Icy blue foil base with intense holographic shimmer and holographic micro shreds.

This is a great shade to help cool things down when the summer days come around and get toasty. It can be a little streaky, but it does apply well with careful application.

Retail: $10

Riddikulus
Two coats plus top coat

A medium green leaning teal base with gold to bronze to silver flakies, holographic sparkle, and copper shimmer.

This is such a fun colour and unique to my collection! Not only is the colour stunning, the formula is fantastic to boot!

Retail: $10

The Harry Potter Spells Collection will be launching on the LynB designs website tomorrow at 12 noon Eastern Time. Each of the shades will retail for $10, but you can purchase the full six piece for $60 and get free shipping with discount code HARRY.

Which shades are your favorites from this collection? I'd love to hear from you!

Until next time, dear readers, have a wonderful evening!
XO!
