CPNA Beauty: Gelish and Morgan Taylor Lacquer Matador 2017, PolyGel, and a New App!

Greetings, dear readers! I hope this post finds you well, and you are having a wonderful week thus far! For today's blog post, I wanted to share a closer look at my time at the Morgan Taylor Lacquer/Gelish booth while attending Cosmoprof North America. Let's check it out!


Step aside acrylics and hard gels! Gelish has recently released their new PolyGel line, and this fantastic product is sure to become the new go-to product in salons! PolyGel is a new nail enhancement that can be applied as an overlay or used to sculpt a full set of nails with no monomer and no airborne dust. It is reported to be 23% lighter than acrylics and 16% lighter than traditional hard gels, yielding strong and flexible nails that still feel natural. Nail techs and service consumers alike can also appreciate the unlimited play time this product yields as it does not set until it is cured! I've you've ever had the unfortunate experience of having poorly shaped nails due to limited time before setting, and believe me, I certainly have when I wore acrylics long ago, you will certainly appreciate this feature! Whether you are new to the industry or an experienced professional, this is bound to quickly become a favorite product!

Now how about a look at the new Fall 2017 collection for Morgan Taylor Lacquer and Gelish!


Vámonos donde España! That's right, Morgan Taylor and Gelish are taking us on a journey to Spain this season! With a country filled with vibrant culture and beautiful scenery, how could you not want to take the bull by the horns and set your nails a-tangoing with the rich colors! While this and the following photos are showcasing Morgan Taylor, the Matadora Collection will include the same vibrant hues in the Gelish Soak-Off line as well.

Before you head off, let me add one final addition to this post! Morgan Taylor has launched a new App on Android and iOS mobile phones. It features a virtual salon experience where you can select the skin tone, nail shape and length closest to your own and proceed to "try on" the 100+ core shades plus the additional seasonal collections. The app also allows you to snap a photo of anything that suits your fancy, and it will generate a range of Morgan Taylor shades that matches your photo. Talk about making nail art easy! Trying to select the best shades is often a substantial part of the creative process for me, and I love that the new app makes it faster for me to get to the actual artwork on my nails!

Lyn B Designs: Scorch and Blue Moonstone

Greetings, dear readers! I am in a rush this morning, so I'm going to keep the chatter to a minimum and jump right in on nail polish. I was sent the upcoming polish of the month shades by Lyn B Designs, and I have them here today for your viewing pleasure. Let's check them out!

Scorch

Based on the description, I almost expected Scorch to be more white, but it is loaded with so much micro glitter and flecks that it ends up looking more peachy pink. I often shy aware from white-based crellies since white is often too harsh against my skin tone, but I am in love with this combination! The formula of Scorch is on point; it's not too thick or thin for my preference and applied easy to my nails. I have it shown here with two coats plus a layer of topcoat for a smoother finish.

Blue Moonstone

Blue Moonstone is sadly not the most flattering shade on me, but please don't let that deter you from this gorgeous polish! It is so beautiful to look at, and with a formula that is easy to work with, it is sure to win you over! I have it shown here with three coats to reach opacity, but it can easily perform as a transformative topper over other shades if you prefer.

Lyn B Designs: MK Ultra Holos Collection

Greetings, dear readers! I hope this post finds you well and you are having a wonderful week thus far! For today's blog post, I wanted to share with you the new MK Ultra Holos Collection releasing this Friday by Lyn B Designs. These shades are beautiful, and I hope you love them! Let's check them out!

What a Bluetiful Day

How could you not have a beautiful day with such a lovely shade of blue on your nails! Smooth and creamy, What a Bluetiful Day applied like a dream with two easy coats for opacity.

Lime and Lime Again

I have developed a weakness for bright green shades, especially during the hot months of summer, so I'm naturally falling for this shade time and time again! Lime and Lime Again applied easily for me and I didn't find the formula to be too thin or thick for my personal preference. This particular shade is one of the sheerer ones from this collection, and while I only needed two coats for opacity, those with longer nails may need to plan on using a third coat.

I Got a Nude Attitude

Nude shades are the perfect palette cleanser when you need a break from bright hues, and taupe hues are spectacular! It's also a great shade for when you aren't permitted to wear a more vibrant hue, but the added holo makes this polish anything but boring. I have it shown here with two coats, but those with longer nails may require a third coat for opacity.

Turq-ish Delight

Oh, yes, I am delighted to see this shade: it's just too perfect to not include in a mid/late summer collection! The formula is sublime and it practically applies itself to the nails. I used two coats for these photos, but those that tend to paint with a heavier hand may find they only need a single coat for opacity.

Why Not Take Olive Me

You might as well take all of me since this polish already already has my heart! Why Not Take Olive Me is a great shade that isn't too dark and can easily work well on your nails across the seasons. I'm going to be giving this one a lot of love as I start transitioning more into fall shades! Shown with two easy coats in these photos.

You Win Some You Blues Some

If you're looking for the perfect sexy evening polish or are chomping at the bit for cooler fall days, You Win Some You Blues Some is sure to become a staple in your polish collection! The polish itself may look dark and moody but the name is about as chill as it comes! I have no issues with the formula to report and have it shown here with two coats.

The Fuchsias So Bright, I Gotta Wear Shades

Of course, if you're still enjoying the hot summer days, you might as well wear something bright on your nails while you are sporting your sunglasses! If you like brighter pinks, The Fuchsias So Bright, I Gotta Wear Shades is a fabulous option for on your fingers or toes this summer! Shown here with two smooth coats.

Coral Dilemma

Much like the name of this particular polish, exactly what to say about it is my dilemma. While it initially started out applying to my nails smoothly, the second coat was a little trickier for me. I also had my two-year old trying to go after the polish on my swatch desk at the time so I think I just overworked the polish a little too much and ended up with a slightly uneven finish. It's still a gorgeous shade and one I plan to wear often, but it is worth noting that it is possible to overwork. I have it shown here with two coats.

What in Carnation?

What in carnation, indeed! While I do enjoy darker pink shades, I generally don't care for lighter pinks. That's obviously my personal preference and not really important in the grand scheme of things, but imagine my surprise when I expected to not like this polish colour and it ended up turning out to be one of my favorites from the collection! It's the perfect warm light pink hue, and add to it the holo, and I am in awe of how delicate and pretty this polish is! I had no issues with application of this polish and really like the formula's consistency; I have it shown with two coats for these photos.
