A Box, Indied: April Swatches and Review

Good afternoon, dear readers! Oh, how I have missed you and my little blog! The past month was absolutely crazy with my move out of Arizona, my son becoming sick, and then me getting it from him. While things appeared to be quiet, there was definitely some activity here for The Jedi Wife, including a new camera and photo setup! I've been working to get things exactly where I want them, and while I may have to do a little tweaking here and there, I'm happy with how things are looking for me thus far. Now if only I can stop rambling and get to my blog post....  ;)

I have swatches of the polishes from the Llarowe A Box, Indied April box to share with you this afternoon, and I hope you enjoy them! First up is the obligatory box shot:
The theme for this month's box is "Every Colo(u)r Indie Rainbow", so naturally a rainbow lollypop was the perfect little addition to each box. I am currently working on mine as I type up this post to keep the writing inspiration going. Not shown is this picture were the business cards for several of the indie brands in this box in addition to a little card with a recipe for jello shots (to be made with alcohol). If you have this box headed your way and plan to try out the recipe, please consume responsibly!

Now to the colours (in alphabetical order) and the real reason I'm sure you are reading this post!

Colors by Llarowe: Courage, Brains, Heart
Like many other CbL polishes, this gorgeous magenta holo is packed with pigment, and I only used one coat of polish for these swatches. I had no issues whatsoever applying it, and it just came to life on my nails.

Different dimension: The Lovers, The Dreamers, And Me
Swoon! I love this shade of blue- not too dark, not too light, it's just right! The Lovers, The Dreamers, And Me was almost a one coater for me, but I did use two coats for these photos. If you tend to apply polishes in slightly thick layers, you may find that a single coat will cover perfectly for you.

Dollish Polish: Twist of Lime
Twist of Lime was unfortunately a little disappointing for me, especially since I absolutely love the colour. I really wanted a little more oompf from the holo, but I could have looked past that if the formula was better. The biggest problem I found was the numerous clumps of undissolved dark green pigment in the bottle that kept transferring onto my nails as I was swatching. No, these clearly were not flakies or microglitters or whatever else you might want to call them. These were definitely clumps of pigment that broke up with just a little bit of prodding. I was able to remove most of them (or they were covered up with a second coat of polish) so it isn't too noticeable in these photos, but I personally don't want to have to do that when I'm painting my nails. As much as I love this colour, this is enough of a turn off for me that I doubt I'd grab this bottle to use again. I used two coats for the photos above.

Girly bits: Perry-twinkle
I cannot decide if I like this colour on me or not, but it is so pretty I decided that I don't care and I'm going to wear it anyway. My toddler might be rubbing off on me. ;) This perry-twinkle, err, periwinkle shade is quite lovely and another great addition to the box. I used two coats for these photos.

Jindie Nails: Blue & Green's Love Child
A little more blue-leaning, Blue & Green's Love Child is the final and no-less stunning polish in April's A Box, Indied. There is a touch of fine glitter in this polish to make it a little more complex, but I couldn't quite capture them in my photos other than an occasional sparkle. The formula was flawless, and I used two coats for these photos.

Overall, I was very happy with this month's A Box, Indied. A small part of me was disappointed to see so much blue and no orange, but all the shades in this box are so gorgeous I can forgive the missing favorite colour. ;) I did have a problem with undissolved pigment in one of the polishes, but you can definitely work with it if you are patient.

April's A Box, Indied is currently listed as sold out on Llarowe's site, however I've heard whisperings that there might still a few still available that will be listed for sale soon. I cannot confirm at this time, and you'll have to stay tuned to the Llarowe Facebook page or the A Box, Indied Facebook page for announcements.

Until next time, dear readers, have a wonderful day!
XOXO!

  6. I had the same problem with the Dollish and am quite disappointed. Green is my fave color, but there wasn't much in the way of holo and those dark pigment bits basically make this one unusable! :( I am in love with the CbL, DD, and GB ones though! <3

  7. Glad it wasn't just me that had the pigment issues with the Dollish Polish - really disappointing as I loved the colour. :(
