Good morning, dear readers! In my previous post, I shared Play Love Laugh Orangecicle. I decided to use it as a base for some nail art since it was already on my nails and to see if I could like it more than I did. Check it out!
The first thing I have to say is that the 5 free vegan base of Play Love Laugh did not play will with the base of Sally Hansen Instra-Dri Peachy Breeze. I wanted the gradient to be very smooth, and to accomplish the look, I started out with two strips of polish next to each other. I then took a toothpick and blended along the lines where the polishes touched, and it turned into something a little thick and goopy. I decided to try to sponge it on quickly, and rather than smoothing out, it just made it into a disgusting mess on my nails. It actually was far more textured looking than these photos show, but my top coat smoothed out the textured hot mess. Because I had committed to creating a look, I continued with the rest of my nails. I added Nail Tattoos by Sinful Colors that I picked up last summer at my Walgreens that I never got the chance to wear until now.
Overall, I'm feeling "meh" about this look. I think if the gradient turned out better I would really like it, but the blockiness of the colours, not to mention the gross mess I first started with, just turned me off from the get go. I think I'm going to have to try this look again using polishes that are more compatible with each other since it is a fun and bright look for the beach!

ReplyDeleteIt didn't come out looking awful at least! Looks like you made it work. I would never have thought about the formulas for two different polishes not cooperating when doing nail art. Maybe I'm just still new enough to the whole thing!
