You Polish Hearts and Stars Mommy & Me Decals with Girly Bits Cosmetics

Good evening, dear readers! I hope your week is off to a great start! The Monday after a 3 day weekend always seems so long, and I'm only just now getting to sit down and get this post written.

I am really excited to be bringing you this post! I contacted Lauren from You Polish about creating Mommy & Me stencils and decals since many on the market are just a little too big for small fingers. I really liked the idea of having one sheet that contains matching products that can be used by both the moms (or big sisters, aunts, grandmothers, and whatever role you have in a little one's life) and the kiddos, and the Mommy & Me line was born. Unfortunately my mini me is still too little with zero patience right now for me to do his nails, but I'm going to do my best to show the sizes of the stencils and decals. There are currently three different sheets to choose from, so this week is going to be about Mommy & Me. Let's check out the first one!
The first sheet we created contains zigzags (chevrons), wavy lines, stars and hearts. There are a few different sizes of stars and hearts, and the larger ones are actually cut on the inside so that they are hollow and the two pieces nest together- the perfect fit for a mom and her little one!
While I opted not to use this orientation for my final nail art look, I wanted to show you how these chevrons compare. The "Mommy" (adult) version is a little thicker, longer, and the zigzags are stretched out more than the "me" (child) version. That being said, if your nails aren't particularly long, you can still use the child version on your nails. While I generally like my chevron print to be horizontal, I do like that I have other options!
I used both sizes for my ring finger. Because the adult version is so long, I cut them in half for horizontal placement on my nails. The child version is a little too short for my liking when cut in half (I need a good bit of overhang to easily remove from my nails), so I left those as it.

This is my final nail art look with this sheet!
I love the hollowed out star! I used tweezers to apply these stencils and decals, and I used the tweezer tip to help push out the center portion of the star.
I used these both as stencils and decals so you could get an idea of what you could do with this particular sheet. I used Ho-Ho-Hope and Walk Like an Egyptian by Girly Bits Cosmetics in addition to these decals to create this look.
I used both the adult and child sized wavy lines for this nail. The top two gold ripples are with the larger adult version and the three thinner gold ripples along the lower part of my nail are from the child version.
I am so excited to see this come to life! I am a boy mom, and while my son is currently interested in my polish, I'm not sure he will be for long. I really hope the moms out there enjoy using these with their kids! I'll have the other sets up on my blog later this week!

The Mommy & Me decals and stencils are currently available for purchase on the You Polish website here. There are 25 vinyl colours for you and your mini me to choose from! Even if you don't have a mini me to share these with, the smaller versions still work on bigger nail beds, so check them out!

What do you think of the Mommy & Me stencil and decal sheet? Do you have a mini me to share with? I'd love to hear from you!

Until next time, dear readers, have a wonderful day!
XO!

  5. I like the idea. I don't have any tiny youthy people on my life, but I still like the idea of having vinyls in different sizes to help put together a "look."

    1. I really like that the smaller versions are still big enough that an adult can still use them. It's perfect for those with smaller nail beds!

  10. I really like how you used the sheet as both decals and stencils while showing the different sizes on the sheet really show the versatility. I discovered this brand a few weeks ago even though my little one is now eleven and male I can still use the me portion because I'm now rockin' nubs.

  11. Smaller nail vinyls aren't all that new but the marketing approach You Polish took was pretty genius.

    1. I've not really come across smaller vinyls, especially the decals, but there are getting to be several brands on the market and I can't keep up. I think this is a fun line because it's geared specifically towards little ones, and they like to know they are important. :)
