Ellagee Dingbats Collection

Press Sample

Happy hump day, dear readers! I hope you've been having a wonderful week thus far!
We're in the triple digits here this week- apparently Northern California didn't get the memo Labor Day marks the END of summer- but my mind is starting to focus on all things Halloween. Naturally this includes starting to think of manicures. What better way to get in the Halloween spirit than with the new Dingbats Collection by Ellagee! This six-piece collection contains bat-shaped glitters! Yeah, baby! I'm really excited about these, so let's jump in and check them out!

I Vant To Bite Your Neck
over Zoya Genesis
A clear based topper with a matte and metallic mix of square, hex, bat, and vampire tooth (triangle) glitter in black, white, and red

I love a good glitter topper, and this one makes me all warm and fuzzy inside....just don't tell the vampires I said that! I opted to pay homage to the sparkly vampires of Twilight by pairing this fun topper with a sparkly white base. Don't worry, dear readers, I'm groaning there with you, but I had already committed to it, so here we are! This topper was easy to work with- the glitters came out of the bottle with no issues and I was easily able to dab about a coat over my base. I wasn't sure how the bat-shaped glitters would behave, but they applied like a dream. Please ignore the bubbles in these (and the remaining) photos- my topcoat was a little bubbly and my camera picked them all up.

Love At First Bite
A sheer neon orange jelly with a mix of dot, star, and bat glitter in white and neon rainbow shades

Yay for orange! I am so happy to see my favorite colour included in a bat collection, and this polish was love at first bite...errrrr sight for me! The formula was fantastic, and it applied perfectly. It is sheer, and there was still visible nail line after the two coats I applied here. You can easily layer this over a base shade if you want a more opaque look. I used two coats plus topcoat for these photos.

Out For A Bite
A sheer neon purple jelly with a metallic mix of hex and bat glitter in multiple shades

I love this glorious purple shade with the bat glitters because it reminds me of the bats flying out for the night at sunset. It is sheer, and I still had visible nail line at two coats as shown here. I personally prefer this density of bats so I stopped here, but you can add an additional coat or layer over a base shade for a more opaque look. Photos are also shown with topcoat the smooth the nails.

Such A Pain In The Neck
over Gabriel Cosmetics Golden Yellow
A clear based topper with a matte mix of hex, bat, and skull glitter in black, white, and rainbow shades

Such A Pain In The Neck is another fantastic glitter topper in this collection! I love the variety of colours in this polish, and it lends itself well to layering over a range of base shades. The formula was easy to work with, and the glitters dispersed nicely over my nails as I dabbed them over my base shade. I used about a coat of polish and added (a very bubbly) topcoat for these swatch photos.

Just Hanging Around
A sheer neon green jelly with a metallic mix of hex and bat glitter in purple, green and orange

Just Hanging Around is one of my favorite shades from this collection. The colour combination is on point, and it just screams Halloween. If you are limited to just one shade for Halloween this year, this is the one to go for. Not only are the colours perfect, the formula is fabulous. I didn't have to dig for any glitters, and they spread easily over my nails. I used two coats plus topcoat for these photos. You can easily layer this over a base colour if you prefer to not have visible nail line.

Always Be Batman

A clear based topper with a matte glitter mix of hex, square, and bat shaped glitter in grey, black, navy, and yellow

The final shade in this six-piece collection is Always Be Batman. I don't have this one to review, but I still wanted to include it in this post.

The Ellagee Dingbats collection is one of the best Halloween collections I have seen! The bat-shaped glitter is unique, and I love the lighthearted fun found in this collection. You definitely need to grab your favorites from this limited edition collection in time for Halloween!

The Dingbats collection launches on the Ellagee site here September 12th (that's this upcoming Saturday) at 3pm CST. This collection will only be available for purchase through October 31st. Now through Halloween, each order will come with a free baggie of bat shaped glitters for Halloween nail art!

Until next time, dear readers, have a wonderful day!
XO!

  5. I'm not a fan of funky shaped glitter. If you take the bats out of Love at First Bite then I'm sold!

    1. I'm usually not a fan of most funky shaped glitters, but if it's Halloween, I'm pretty much guaranteed to love it! Love At First Bite is gorgeous, and it would be beautiful without bats as a non-Halloween polish.
