LynBDesigns: Totally Clueless Collection

Press Sample
I'm like totally buggin' that it has been 20 years since the release of the film, Clueless! It's realizations like this that remind me of just how quickly time passes, and it makes me totally pause to reflect on the days from that lifetime ago. Long gone are the days where I may have been cool (As if! I'm afraid I was never one of the "cool" kids), but I totally take comfort in the fact that old people can be so cute, so I'm riding that thought. Whatever, at least I am closer to affording an Alaia now! Ugh, as if!

To celebrate this anniversary, LynBDesigns has created a collection of polishes inspired by some of the most memorable quotes from the film. Let's check them out!

Totally Bugging
A pink crelly with pink, white, grey and plummy pink glitters

Retail: $8

I have a strange relationship with the colour pink. I tend to prefer darker pinks and avoid lighter pinks, and I was surprised at just how much I really liked this bubblegum pink shade. Maybe it's the grey glitters or maybe it's the small bright pops of pink, but I actually dig this shade. Overall the formula was pretty easy to work with, although I did have to occasionally contend with a glitter or two to land where I wanted it to on my nails. I used three coats plus topcoat for these photos.

Ren and Stimpy, They're Way Existential
A bright blue crelly base with white stars, tiny red and yellow glitters and blue glass flecks

Retail: $8

Ren and Stimpy is one of the stupidest cartoons ever made, and there is nothing existential about it. There, I said it. In spite of my thoughts on the cartoon, it is a fun quote from the film, and it certainly inspired an adorable polish! I don't have any major issues to report with this polish, and I had a nice number of star-shaped glitters overall. One brush dip would result in none while others would pick up two or three, so you don't have to do any digging. The corners of the stars did occasionally want to stick together, but they separated easily enough with a little extra attention. I used three coats plus topcoat for these photos.

Ugh, As If
Inspired by Cher's yellow sweater from the beginning of the movie, I created a golden yellow linear holo polish. It's packed with gold glass flecks and is the perfect undies for I Totally Paused.

Retail: $10

Golds and yellows aren't the most popular, but I definitely recommend this baby! I was quite blown away with how much I loved it, and the formula was fantastic. The holo effect is subtle, but it allows the glass flecks to really bring this beauty to life. I used three coats for these photos.

I Totally Paused
This is the topper for Ugh, As If (as shown here). It's a golden holo glitter extravaganza. It also features black strips and hexes and even some white hexes.

Retail: $8

Black, white and gold glitters? Sign me up! I really like the colour combination! I'm not quite sure how I feel about the thin bar glitters since bar shapes and I usually aren't friends, but they did apply very easily like the rest of the glitters in this polish. I dabbed on about a coat and topped my nails off with topcoat for these photos.

I Fully Intend to Brake for Animals
A black jelly base loaded with purple glitters in all finishes and sizes

Retail: $8

I Fully Intend to Brake for Animals was one of the colours I was most excited about, and unfortunately, it is the polish that give me the most difficulty. I normally love black jelly polishes with glitters, but the purple glitters here were so tricky to work with. Often I would pull the brush out of the bottle and find a string of glitters tangled together that I could not manipulate apart no matter how much I tried. It resulted in a textures uneven look on my nails, and while topcoat did smooth it out, it could not fix the uneven look on my nails. I think this polish would be best used layered over a black base rather than trying to use it alone to reach opacity. I used two coats plus topcoat for these photos.

Space Cadet
over Gabriel Cosmetics Cashmere
A glitter topper loaded with blue glitters in all sizes and finishes.

Retail: $8

This is such a pretty glitter topper, but then I may be biased because of my love of the colour blue! From shiny to holo to matte, this polish really does have it all! I also love the variety in the shades of blue. It definitely adds a gorgeous touch to any base colour! The formula was easy to work with, and I dabbed on about a coat over my base shade and followed up with topcoat.

Whatever!
A grassy green crelly base with tiny rainbow glass flecks and linear holographic.

Retail: $10

Calling all green lovers! You're going to want this beauty! The base shade is pretty, but the rainbow glass flecks is what really puts this polish over the top. I adore this shade! I had no issues with the formula, and I applied three coats for these photos.

Full on Monet
shown over Whatever!

A glitter topper loaded with all the colors featured in Monet's Water Lillies, and like the line from the movie it's a mess when you get really close to it.

Retail: $8

I have to argue with the description of this polish- it's certainly not a mess when you get close to it! Water Lillies is such an iconic and lovely painting, and I an so glad to see it being used as the inspiration for this line from the film. It's another fabulous glitter topper from this collection! I had no issues with application and dabbed on one coat over my base and added topcoat for these photos.

Old People Can Be So Cute
A grey crelly base loaded with glitter in pink, purple, yellow and fuchsia. It also has a hint of pink shimmer, you know for fun

Retail: $8

Old People Can Be So Cute was another favorite from the collection for me. While grey polishes usually look weird on me, this one suits me more with the additional yellow glitters and pink shimmer. It's such a pretty combination! The formula was easy to work with, and I used two coats plus topcoat for these photos.

This is an Alaia
A red jelly base loaded with red glass flecks and some deep taupe flecks

Retail: $8

While there are several great shades in this collection, I had to save my personal favorite for last. There is just something sexy about a red jelly polish, and this is hot! The flecks make me feel like I'm wearing a strawberry on my nails, but in a mature adult sort of way. I really can't find the words to describe just how much I love this polish, but seriously, this one is to die for! I'm going to be wearing this stunner a lot! I used three easy coats and added topcoat for these photos.

I am totally thrilled to see this inspired collection! The quotes are so much fun, and I really enjoyed seeing how they were interpreted. I like that there are holos, crellies, jellies, and glitter toppers to choose from, and I hope to see more polishes using these awesome glass flecks in future LynBDesigns collections!

The Totally Clueless Collection launches September 4th (that's THIS Friday!) at 7pm EST at the LynBDesigns etsy shop located here. You can also follow the shop on Facebook here for more photos and shop announcements.

What are your top picks from this collection? I'd love to hear from you!

Until next time, have a great day!
