Press Samples and Purchased Products
If the date on the calendar wasn't enough, the temperatures should be letting you know it is all summer here in the northern hemisphere! The sweltering heat has many wanting to leave off as much as possible, and that includes makeup. While not everyone is into the no-makeup makeup look all the time, summer is when even those that tend to wear a full face of products are ready to roll back on products for time on the beach, relaxing my the pool, or out on an exciting summer adventure. If you're in the market for gorgeous products to keep your skin looking like yours, but better, do I have the products for you! Let's jump on in!
Nudestix is a brand created by a mother-daughter-daughter trio. Their mantra is all about embracing your own natural beauty rather than covering up and being someone else. The brand consists of makeup crayons, many of which are multi-purpose, and I am happy to report that they are vegan friendly and Cruelty Free. There are no parabens or preservatives; all you get is a clean product for a nice clean look on your skin.
A newer product to the brand lineup are the Nudies Tinted Blur Sticks. This product comes in 9 shades ranging from lighter to darker skin tones. While nine seems like such a small amount, these are meant to be used as a skin tint, not a full coverage product, so there really isn't a need for a 40-something shade collection. I especially like the tinted feature as there isn't any issues finding a shade that suits most skin tones as the undertones really don't matter. As a light-medium olive girl, not having to hunt for the perfect shade was music to my ears! Each of the Nudies Tinted Blur Stick is packaged in a 6.116 g/0.216 US oz twist up tube and then packaged in their own metal pop-top tin. The inside of the lid portion of the tin also contains a mirror, so if you travel with your Nudie in its case, you'll have a mirror on hand for application.
Nudestix provided me with these in three shade so I could best find my colour, and I found Medium 4 to be a great match for my skin. I have also swatched the next-to-darkest shade, Deep 9, so you can see how it compares. I also wanted to play with it with contouring and put the Nudies Tinted Blur Sticks to another use besides an ultra-sheer foundation. I opted to keep the remaining shade unused so it can be included in a future giveaway. This way I can hopefully share the love with one of you!
These swatch photos are shown with three passes on the back of my hand and are definitely not these opaque when applied onto the face. Nudestix shows application videos where you stripe a Tinted Blur Stick on your face and use your fingers to tap/blend it out for even coverage. I've applied these sticks this way, but in the end, I really prefer to use my Sigma kabuki brush to buff it out for an even finish. I am one of those people that does not like to use my fingers for makeup application, so that is likely more of a personal preference rather than reflective on the product itself. The final look is the perfect subtle no-makeup makeup! When I want a more contoured look, I like to stripe Deep 9 on the areas where I want more depth, and I use a damp sponge to blend it out.
Retail: $30 each
While at The Makeup Show in New York City, I purchased a Nude(art)ist Box and filled it with my selection of shades from the brand lineup. This box customization doesn't appear to be an option if you buy online, but there is a Nude(art)ist Kit with a preselected set of colours for the eyes. There are other six-pencil kits designed for eye or lip looks.
Pre-selected kit Retail: $59
The preconfigured kit comes with six shades, and I picked out six of my own here.
Lilith Magnetic Luminous Eye Color
Even though this shade is an eye colour, I also have used it to add a touch of highlight to my cheekbones.
Fig Magnetic Matte Eye Color
If you like your eyes to have a warmer hint of colour, then this is a perfect shade for you!
Purity Intense Matte Lip + Cheek Pencil
This colour is so pretty! I'm usually a powder girl when it comes to blush, but I've been grabbing for this one a lot!
Pulse Gel Color Lip + Cheek Balm
I bought this for a shiny option for my lips, but you can definitely use it on the cheeks if you prefer a more luminous looking flushed cheek. I shine enough on my own so I prefer to skip the cheeks although the colour is lovely blended out.
Wicked Gel Color Lip + Cheek Balm
I adore this shade on my lips when I want a more intense colour on my lips but have a soft, shiny finish. This will also make a gorgeous dewy-finished blush for those with darker skin tones!
Royal Intense Matte Lip + Cheek Pencil
Royal is an amazing option as a blush for those with dark skin tones! It's definitely too intense for my cheeks, but I do love wearing this colour on my lips!
With the exception of the shades I wear I my lips, I use my fingers to blend out these colours on my eyes, cheeks, and high points of my face.
Retail: $24 each
The Nude(art)ist Kit also comes with a pencil sharpener, and I picked up one with my custom set. It is the larger diameter size as these makeup sticks are thicker than traditional eyeliner pencils. If you already have a wider sharpener, you probably don't need another one, but I do like that this one is shaped in such a way that it fits perfectly within my makeup tin alongside six colour sticks. I also like that the extra inch of length on the end gives you something to hold comfortably while sharpening your pencils. It makes me feel a little more in control of how much pressure I put on these sticks for sharpening so I'm not constantly pushing too hard and breaking off my newfound tips before I get to actually use them. Who would have thought that something like a (makeup) pencil sharpener would make me happy?!?
This has been my go-to look with using the products from Nudestix. I am wearing the Nudies Tinted Blur Stick in Medium 4 all over my face and contoured with Deep 9. I have Fig Magnetic Matte Eye Color and Lilith Magnetic Luminous Eye Color on my eyes, Purity Intense Matte Lip + Cheek Pencil on my cheeks, and a light wash of Wicked Gel Color Lip + Cheek Balm on my lips.
I have really enjoyed these products and am already grabbing for them repeatedly this summer! The only issue I've had is the Nudies Tinted Blur Sticks breaks me out on my forehead and chin when used for full face (sheer) coverage more than two days in a row. That part is a little disappointing, but I can easily wear Medium 4 again without any issue if I've gone either makeup-free or with a different foundation for a few days between uses. I have used the Deep 9 Nudies Tinted Blur Stick as a contour with my normal foundations, and I've not had any issues with breakout from consistent use with it. I do have normal-oily combination skin, and I think my oily T-zone is just too much with these sticks for every-day use, even with a little bit of powder added for shine and blotting during the day. I would still recommend trying these out for a beautiful filtered but natural look
As for the other makeup crayons, I would definitely check them out at well! The price of each individual pencil is a little spendier than I personally feel comfortable with at $24 per pencil, but the pre-selected six-colour kits are a great option at only $59 per set. Depending on the kit you select, the makeup crayons will come in either a tin or a fun makeup pouch. There are also small three-piece kits for as low as $24 so there certainly are several options to try out products from the brand!
Have you used any products from Nudestix? If so, what were your favorite products? Do you like the concept of makeup crayons, or do you prefer liquids and/or powders? I'd love to hear your thoughts!
Until next time, dear readers, have a wonderful evening!

The Intense Matte Lip and Cheek Pencils are my favorite formula from the brand. It's lightweight but has a ton of color.
ReplyDeleteI was really impressed with mine and need to pick up more colours.
DeleteWhen my skin was oily I could only wear a foundation 2 days in a row and then I'd need a break for a few days. That rarely happens to me know but I'm aware that it still could. I just ordered the lightest foundation stick and am looking forward to trying it.
ReplyDeleteI hope you like it! I keep wearing mine and have to force myself to take a break from it so I'm not breaking out. It looks so good on the skin though!
DeleteI love the set of NudeStix you were able to personalize!
ReplyDeleteMe too! It was a special promo at The Makeup Show, and it was nice getting to pick a variety that I knew I would wear often.
DeleteI love the color of the Purity pencil. I'd be all over that!
ReplyDeleteOh it is so pretty! Even when I don't wear any other Nudestix, I wear it all the time with other products. The colour is so flattering.
DeleteI’m liking all the photos and layout I see since you rebranded. Great review per usual
ReplyDeleteThank you so much! That really means a lot!
DeleteThese look so convenient to pack into your bag for quick touchups!
ReplyDeleteDefinitely, and the fact you can use your fingers to blend out makes it all the more easier!
DeleteSuch a pretty look on you!
ReplyDeleteThank you!
DeleteI like that the products do double duty!
ReplyDeleteMe too! It makes them great to just toss a couple in my bag and know I can look complete with just them.
DeleteI love their products!
ReplyDeleteI'm glad to hear that!

ReplyDeleteI love that you enjoy red lips! It's something I love to wear a lot as well!
DeleteI tried their products and they are fab! Perfect for those who like a no fuss minimal makeup look (like me!)
ReplyDeleteI actually thought of you when I was trying these out and thought you would like these!
DeleteI've heard very good things about the Tinted Blur Stick. I have to see if I can get a good shade match - 4 is PERFECT on you! BUT egad - breakouts! I'm already terribly acneiac right now, and need to avoid acne-triggers like the plague. TY for the warning!
ReplyDeleteI've heard mixed things about them- others can use them without any issue so I'm not sure why I can't wear them too many days in a row. I know my skin is sensitive but breakouts aren't that common for me.
DeleteI love Purity!!! This is the perfect shade for me!!! You look fabulous!
ReplyDeleteIt's a gorgeous blush shade, although it makes for a pretty lip as well.
DeleteI really need to try more Nudestix products. I always hear amazing things about them.
ReplyDeleteI really like the ones I've tried and need to pick up more to add to my collection!
DeleteIdk why, but I’ve never really been drawn to this brand — maybe because it’s all cream products, which I am not a bit fan of working with. But the look you got with them was lovely!
ReplyDeleteI really want to try these, pulse looks really pretty
