Made for Me Monday: Ever After Polish

Good morning, dear readers, and happy Monday! Here is my obligatory "how about that game last night" comment. I am not particularly pleased with the outcome, so let us leave it at that and move right along, shall we? Besides, I have something so stunningly beautiful to share with you that I bumped this post up ahead of schedule and it quells my bruised ego from yesterday. Let's do this!

I decided to start up a series for my blog this year called Made for Me Monday to share my experiences in working with different indie brands to create custom products. There are so many brands to choose from, and each one has its own style and spin. My hope is that this series will be helpful to you in finding a brand to work with should you wish to have a custom created yourself. Today's Made for Me Monday post is the first nail polish reveal for this year, and I am thrilled to have had the opportunity to work with Ever After Polish!
Ever After Polish is an indie brand run by two fabulous women. If you have not had the pleasure of trying their products, I definitely recommend running to their site to get an order in as soon as possible! Not only do they make beautiful nail polishes, they also have an assortment of other beauty goodies to try from their nourishing cuticle crelly, a product I use frequently, to bath fizzies both my toddler and I have enjoyed. They have a plethora of other products I have yet to test out, but Ever After will certainly not leave you for wanting! I have to admit I was ecstatic when Rachel contacted me about working on this project, and to say she nailed it is a major understatement. Let me share some photos with you to drool over before I go into some of the details. I present to you my Made for Me Monday custom, Huntress of My Eyes!

Huntress of My Eyes
Two coats plus top coat

I love to design polishes with indies, and I have a rather large inspiration folder on my computer in which to pull ideas. As soon as Rachel contacted me, I knew exactly what image I wanted to send her.

I have always loved the ocean, so it wasn't too surprising that was my inspiration photo. I particularly loved the blues and the blue-greens in the water, and I felt that Rachel's penchant for flakes and shimmers would make this image the perfect match for her. Needless to say, she totally knocked it out of the park! This polish is LOADED with shimmers and flakes and my beloved orange in the form of glitter. I swooned when Rachel sent me the pictures of this, but I still was blown away when I had this in my hands. In spite of being jam-packed with so much awesomenesss, the application was a dream. I was actually quite impressed at just how easy it was to work with, and that is why I leave it to the indie masterminds to work their magic and make it all happen.

When it came to naming this polish, I originally had planned to give it a moniker inspired by the ocean. When nothing jumped out to me as being the perfect name, I started thinking about twilight as inspiration and NOT the sparkled vampire variety. This poem by Tagore and translated into English by Pablo Neruda came to mind, and everything clicked.

In My Sky at Twilight
30th poem in Rabindranath Tagore's The Gardener as translated by Pablo Neruda

In my sky at twilight you are like a cloud
and your form and colour are the way I love them.
You are mine, mine, woman with sweet lips
and in your life my infinite dreams live.

The lamp of my soul dyes your feet,
the sour wine is sweeter on your lips,
oh reaper of my evening song,
how solitary dreams believe you to be mine!

You are mine, mine, I go shouting it to the afternoon's
wind, and the wind hauls on my widowed voice.
Huntress of the depth of my eyes, your plunder
stills your nocturnal regard as though it were water.

You are taken in the net of my music, my love,
and my nets of music are wide as the sky.
My soul is born on the shore of your eyes of mourning.
In your eyes of mourning the land of dreams begin.

I thoroughly enjoyed working with Ever After Polish on this project, and I wholeheartedly recommend them if you are looking to have a custom made yourself. Rachel captured the details of the photo I sent beautifully, and I am so in love with this gorgeous polish!
Now for the part that I'm sure you care about the most- can I buy it?!?  ***At the time of this posting, there is no specific release date of this beauty, but Rachel did write down the recipe and will be launching it when she determines the best time with her schedule.*** Definitely keep an eye on the Ever After Facebook page, or better yet, join the Ever After fan group for news and updates on Huntress of my Eyes and other fabulous Ever After goodies.

***Ninja Edit*** Huntress of My Eyes will be available for purchase Monday, February 15th at the Ever After shop! Woohoo!

Visit the Ever After Polish shop here for other beautiful polishes and pick up some cuticle crelly as well to help take care of those winter-worn cuticles.

Until next time, dear readers, have a fabulous day!
XO!
