A Celebration of KBShimmer's new look one year later with Launch Party 2019

Press Sample

After 10 years in business, indie brand KBShimmer left behind its sweet, floral look a year ago and took on a modern edgier look. It is always a bold move when you step away from a look that customers have loved for many years, but as I can certainly attest even with my own blog name and look, sometimes you just outgrow the look and need a fresh change. To go with the look, KBShimmer launched the aptly named Launch Party Collection in March 2018. The original collection consisted of eight gorgeous magnetic nail polishes and a topper. Now, one year later, KBShimmer is bringing you Launch Party 2019, a trio of new magnetic shades.

I have this trio to share with you today, and I have them all swatched over a black base to really show off the vibrant colours. All polishes are shown using two coats plus Clearly On Top top coat. I used the new KBShimmer Neodymium Ring Magnet (shown at the end of this post) on my pinkie and ring fingers (left-most fingers). I also used the bar side of the KBShimmer Dual Ended Magnet on my index and middle fingers (right-most). To really show off the multichrome aspect of these polishes, some of these shots are with dimmer lighting further from my light setup, but hopefully you can appreciate how lovely these polishes truly are! Let's check these out!

Universal Appeal

Galaxies swirl with planets, stars, dust and dark matter. Universal Appeal is a galaxy-inspired shade alive like the Milky Way, with hues of purple and pink that shift into a vibrant emerald green. At some angles, hints of golden orange or dusty silver also appear. Micro holo flakes add sparkle and shine to this magnetic flake top coat. Best worn over black or other dark colors when used with a strong magnet, Universal Appeal can also be worn alone in 2-3 coats when not magnetized for a unique multichrome finish.

Moon On Over

As dusk gives way to night, the vibrant tones of nature become muted as moonlight casts a soft glow. Moon On Over is inspired by those muted tones and features a soft peach hue that shifts to pink, lime, and grass green. Micro holo flakes add sparkle and shine to this magnetic flake top coat. Best worn over black or other dark colors when used with a strong magnet, Moon On Over can also be worn alone in 2-3 coats when not magnetized for a unique multichrome finish.

Sol Mate

Hot, fiery, and warming, the sun changes our moods, warms our homes, and gives life to out planet. Sol Mate echoes the colors of nature that the sun helps bring to life. Starting as a bright pink, Sol Mate quickly shifts to shades of gold, green, copper and peach. Micro holo flakes add sparkle and shine to this magnetic flake top coat. Best worn over black or other dark colors when used with a strong magnet, Sol Mate can also be worn alone in 2-3 coats when not magnetized for a unique multichrome finish.

Ring Magnet

Magnetic polishes are an out-of-this-world invention! With the power of a magnet, color is shifted and relocated on the nail for a futuristic effect. For best results, you need a strong magnet with the right magnetic pattern and not all magnets will work. The KBShimmer Neodymium Ring Magnet will give your magnetic polish manicures a makeover! The one-inch magnet has a convenience 3/4-inch opening larger enough for most fingers and is 1/4-inch in width. For a curved, negative space on the nail, hold the ring flat against the nail about 1/4 inch away. For a subtle linear look, hold nail inside the ring. This magnet can be used with all magnetic polishes, including gel varieties.

I have really enjoyed trying out these polishes, and I hope you love them as well! I loved the negative space look created with the ring magnet and want to use it on all my magnetics now! To get the magnetic effect, I applied the magnet to my polish immediately after application and held it in place for about 30 seconds while the polish was drying to prevent migration of the colour. In my first use, I found holding it flat near my nail was a little awkward, so I combatted it my attaching the opposite side of the ring to the dual sided magnet so I would have more of a "stick" to hold on to, giving me just that extra bit of control. I don't know about you, but I am notorious about holding my magnets so close they end up dipping into the polish and having to redo my nails, so this little trick helped a lot!

The new Launch Party 2019 and Neodymium Ring Magnet will be launching at KBShimmer.com on Monday, April 8th. The magnetic nail polishes will retail for $10 each and the Neodymium Ring Magnet will retail for $3. The first 50 customers to purchase from the magnetic nail polish trio listing will receive the ring magnet for free.

Do you have a favorite from this new trio? I enjoy them all although I have a particular affinity to Moon On Over. Do you like the effect of the new ring magnet? I'd love to hear from you!

Until next time, dear readers, have a wonderful day and enjoy the weekend! Also, be sure to follow me on social media for updates on PolishCon in New Orleans Saturday!
