Distressed Graduated Purple Dots Nail Art

Good morning, dear readers! I am back today with another nail art look for the clairestelle8 November challenge! Today's prompt is "Purple", and it happened to fit perfectly with my plan to continue this week with another nail art look using the remaining two colours from the upcoming Winter release of the Crèmè à la Mode box. Check it out!
To create this look, I started off with Spoiled Checkin' Into Rehab. I then added Stick It! Nail Vinyls Bubble Stencils. I then very lightly sponged on Zoya Purity. While Purity is definitely a white polish, I dabbed it light enough so that the final effect was a lavender shade. I then dabbed on a gradient of Octopus Party Nail Lacquer in Malibu Stacy's Mom and Literary Lacquers Breathing Dreams Like Air. While Malibu Stacy's Mom is definitely a pink shade, it ended up looking more orchid here because of the light purple layer underneath.
As much as I love things being "perfect", I really wanted a more distressed look with this manicure. To achieve that, I broke the cardinal rule of using vinyls: rather than removing the stencil while the polish was still very wet, I let it sit a minute to dry slightly. When you remove vinyls at this stage, it pulls up some of the polish for this more distressed look. I then added quick dry top coat to smooth my nails out for these photos.
What do you think of this look? The first time I used vinyls about a year and a half ago, I let the polish dry a little too much and was not happy with the polish pulling up, but I knew I'd have to save the idea for some time in the future! I'm also really happy with the more muted look of Malibu Stacy's Mom with this nail art look. I'll definitely have to enjoy it in it's full pink glory, but I think it worked better as an orchid shade here. You can check it out in it's original state along with the other shades from the Crèmè à la Mode box here.

That's all I have for today folks; have a wonderful day!
XO!

    1. The key is to remove when the polish is still wet unless you want a distressed look like this, lol!
