Vurt Nail Art with Literary Lacquers

Good afternoon, dear readers, and TGIF! I somehow managed to dump boiling water my fingertips this morning, so I am down a hand; I am SO GLAD today is Friday so my husband will be around for the next few days to help out with our toddler. My fingers have spent most of the morning in an ice bath, and thankfully it looks like I'm not going to have any major blistering to contend with.

For today's blog post, I wanted to share my Vurt nail art. In a post earlier this week, I shared my swatches of the new Literary Lacquers Vurt-U-Want collection that launched yesterday. This collection is based on the book Vurt by Jeff Noon, the 1990s classic cyber-hallucinogenic novel. I have not read or even hurt of this novel before, but I had to read about some of the details just so I could understand Amy's polish inspiration. In my research, I discovered that Vurt itself is a drug that comes in the form of a feather. The feathers are colour-coded based on the type of experience the user wants, and only blue vurts are legal. It sounded like an interesting book, and I wanted to attempt a nail art look to go along with this collection. Let's check it out!
You may have to use a little imagination to make these look like feathers. I believe the vurts are a little more complex looking than this, but I like the simplicity here, not to mention this is a little more in my nail art skill set. ;)
I rushed a little during cleanup and managed to mess up some of my nail art, but thankfully it only screwed up a few areas!
Layered vurts!

This was a fun nail art look for me. It's different from something I normally would try, but I like the brighter pops of colour against the nude base colour.

Polishes Used:

China Glaze: What's She Dune?
Literary Lacquers: Blue Lullaby, Bottletown, Curious Yellow, Dreamsnake, Thermofish, and Vurt-U-Want
Zoya: Willa

I also used Emily de Molly Stamping plate EDM03.

I hope you've enjoyed today's nail art look and my Literary Lacquers themed week!

Until next time, dear readers, have a wonderful day!
XO!

  1. Really cool mani! Like stained glass. I've never heard of the book but from your description I think you did a great interpretation!

  2. This is a super cool design!!! You layered vurts look awesome. Did you use a decal to create them or are they freehand?

    1. Thank you! They are freehand, but not painted directly onto the nail actually. I dried a swatch of polish on plastic, and I then cut out the feather shapes.

    1. Mine too! That may be my favorite part about this manicure, actually. Neons are a little overwhelming for me as a full manicure, so I really like the more subtle nude plus pops of neon colour. Thank you!
