Glisten & Glow: The 5 Boroughs Collection

Press Sample

Good morning, dear readers! For today's blog post, I have a new Glisten & Glow collection launching at Polish Con New York to share with you. The 5 Boroughs Collection is inspired by New York, with each shade offering a fun activity that you can do in each of the five boroughs. Jill, the creative mastermind behind the brand, is a Connecticut native, and she has spent many childhood summers in New York City. Because Jill has such a personal connection to the city, what could be a better collection to launch at Polish Con New York! Jill shared her love of New York City with me, and I wanted to include her thoughts with this post:

My father and his side of the family were from NY and most lived there! My family and I would visit every holiday and I enjoyed many summer vacation as a child with my grandparents/aunts in NYC. We enjoyed visiting all the sights. I loved all of the sky scrapers at night and the glitzy interiors of various buildings. I love the contrast between the darker shades of the buildings and their shadows thru the street lights to the gilded wall coverings and sparkling chandeliers. Recalling my childhood memories when creating the timeless shades in this collection was rewarding.

These polishes are stunning, so let's jump in and get a closer look at them!

Manis in Manhattan
Two coats plus HK Girl top coat

Manis in Manhattan is a dusty purple based mauve toned linear holographic polish with a strong copper shimmer and a dusting of red and silver holo microglitters.

While I can appreciate the beauty of brighter purples, I have a special love of dusty purples in particular! I'm really excited about this beautiful colour, and it's a fantastic muted shade for those who can't wear bright colours in the office or just want a nice subtle shade as a palette cleanser. The formula is fabulous as well; this polish can do no wrong!

Beatboxing in The Bronx
Two coats plus HK Girl top coat

Beatboxing in the Bronx is an olive green linear holographic with added pink and blue shimmers and a dusting of gold flakies and gold holo microglitters.

Olive hues sadly aren't the most popular, and I am thrilled to see this addition to this collection! I love the colour, and this has a special place in my heart as my youngest son's nickname is Beatbox. The formula of Beatboxing in the Bronx is sublime and this polish practically applies itself! It is densely pigmented, and those that tend to use thicker coats or have shorter nails may find they only need one coat for opacity.

Quick Step in Queens
Two coats plus HK Girl top coat

Quick Step in Queens is a medium gray creme based linear holographic polish loaded with blue shimmers and a very light dusting of gold flakies.

While this polish may be made to celebrate Queens, it makes me think of the plentiful overcast and rainy days I've been seeing a lot of lately, complete with hints of blue sky amongst the clouds. While I may not be a fan of the rain, I do love a nice grey polish on my nails; Quick Step in Queens is absolutely stunning! It is also densely pigmented and could potentially be a one-coater depending on how thickly you apply this polish. I found the application to be fantastic and smooth.

Brunch in Brooklyn
Two coats plus HK Girl top coat

Brunch in Brooklyn is a light pink linear holographic with light pink holo microglitters and a dusting of blue and gold shimmers.

Oh my goodness, this polish is so pretty and these photos don't even come close to doing it justice! I don't wear pale pink shades often, but Brunch in Brooklyn may be a game changer for me. The polish is so delicate and feminine, and while it isn't a colour I wear often, I'm definitely going to be giving this beauty more love! The formula of this stunner is on point; it is also a little on the sheerer side so you will definitely need two coats if not three for those with very long nails. Trust me, it's well worth it if you do!

Selfies in Staten Island
Two coats plus HK Girl top coat

Selfies in Staten Island is a nude linear holographic polish loaded with copper, bronze and gold shimmers with a light dusting of silver holo microglitters.

Now this is one sexy nude polish! Selfies in Staten Island is a beautiful pale nude, a shade that will be flattering across a large range of skin tones. I adore the subtle metallic flashes against the base shade and it adds an added WOW factor to this beauty. Like the rest of this collection, the formula was spectacular and I have no issues to report.

The 5 Boroughs Collection with be releasing April 29th at Polish Con New York in Brooklyn, NY. They will launch online at www.glistenandglow.com May 5th at 9pm EST.

The 5 Boroughs Collection is a fabulous assortment of gorgeous work-friendly shades! While I'm not familiar with all five boroughs, I do love the direction Jill went with each of these polishes and I cannot chose a favorite! The formulas are amazing, and you can't go wrong with any of them!

Do you have a favorite polish from this collection? I'd love to hear which ones you're planning to pick up at the launch!

Until next time, dear readers, have a wonderful day!
XO!
