The Makeup Show NYC took place on May 5th and 6th at the Metropolitan Pavilion. This year, the show brought a great platform for attendees to network, learn, get inspired, and receive amazing deals from some of the most innovative indie brandsto the top beauty brands in the world! It also rang in more than 5,000 attendees that traveled in from all around the world including Australia, Russia, Ireland and England, and, nearly 200 members of the media and buyers, over 100 beauty brands, and more than 110 educational sessions on 8 demo stages.


Shelly Taggar, Owner of The Makeup Show states, “The Makeup Show is a beauty experience that brings artists together for a weekend of shopping, networking, and education. It’s so amazing to see how the artist community in New York supports us every year to celebrate this industry! the world by featuring them in the show. It was an honor to see all these artists that traveled in from all around the globe. We are looking forward to continuing to support global artists at our upcoming shows including iArtist in Washington D.C. this summer. ”


Below you will find the highlights of what the weekend offered....

Over 110 Educational Opportunities: This year The Makeup Show NYC had more education than ever before, with over 110 opportunities spanning across the 8 demo stages! Seminars and main stage presentations have become a staple for artists to learn tips, tricks and techniques for career advancement. The show featured an exclusive lineup of today’s greatest celebrity artists including Daniel Martin, Tabatha Coffey, Erin Parsons, Danessa Myricks, Natasha Denona, James Vincent,
Damone Roberts, and many more. Each speaker covered a range of topics and themes such as innovation, trends and signature celebrity style.


FIRST-EVER International Stage: The FIRST-EVER International Stage sponsored by Danessa Myricks Beauty brought top artist from Russia, Australia, Israel, Dublin, England and more! These highly valuable and desirable makeup artists well-known from all over the globe shared their beauty secrets to attendees all weekend. This exclusive lineup consisted of Darya Kholodnykh, Isabelle De Vries, Mia Connor, Einat Dan, Vanessa Davis, Isabelle De Vries, Lorcan Jude Devaney, Pepe Gutierrez, Daniel Takahashi, Bastian Russ, and Ederson Oliveira. Each speaker covered a range of topics such as SFX, editorial looks and signature celebrity style.


“FACES” The Art Gallery Featuring Matthew Jordan Smith: Matthew Jordan Smith featured his passion and love of art at “FACES” art gallery this past weekend! Smith premiered some of his shots that included some of the most famous faces in the world, including Oprah Winfrey, Queen Latifah and Angela Bassett. His understanding of beauty and ability to capture the essence and individuality of each subject is unparalleled.

The Beauty Brunch: The Beauty Brunch was a perfect kick off to the weekend! This industry event brought 100 members of the media together and top makeup artists including Dick Page, Daniel Martin, Colleen Runné, Matin, Pati Dubroff, Sam Visser, Kabuki, Tracy Murphy, Hung Vanngo, and many international artists. This was a great way for press and makeup artist to mingle with fellow industry peers in a more intimate setting. Sipping on cocktails from Ketel One Botanical and
connecting with their favorite brands, artists, and press.

NYC Nights Fashion Show: From the famous uptown ball scene to the East village underground drag and the boroughs dance halls, New York City night life influenced music, fashion and makeup. On Sunday evening, The Makeup Show NYC celebrated these iconic places and the people who made them with NYC Nights, a cocktail event with a fashion presentation featuring look after look from local artists and The Makeup Show brands. Attendees listened to the music of well-known NYC DJ’s, watched drag done the NYC way and mingled with makeup peers while looks were being served.


Over 100 Beauty Brands: The Makeup Show NYC featured over 100 top beauty brands including Silver Sponsor Temptu, Frends, Ardell Beauty, Crown, and MAKE UP FOR EVER, Supporting Sponsors Alcone Company, NYX, Kiss, Inglot, and Smashbox Pro, Contributing Sponsors Pinnacle Cosmetics and GLAMCOR.


Innovative Indie Brands: The show once again was a platform for indie brands to share their newest innovation with pro-artists! Some of the most innovative show picks include CHROM Toothpolish who introduced their entire line of tooth polish for the first time, to SUVA Beauty’s UV HydraLiners, and MĀSK Skincare’s line of CBD sheetmasks. Other indie brand favorites were those created by pro-makeup artists, including Danessa Myricks Beauty, Rebels & Outlaws, Veil Cosmetics,
LippieBook, and Breakups to Makeup.


The Makeup Show Podcast LIVE Filming: The Makeup Show took their new podcast to the stage and hosted a LIVE segment with Danessa Myricks and James Vincent this past weekend at the show! James and Danessa chatted all things beauty and new episodes will be released every Wednesday. Tune into the podcast on iTunes, Google Play, and Stitcher.
