Born Pretty Store Watermelon Water Decals

Press Sample

Happy hump day, dear readers! After a busy, jam-packed summer, I can't believe August is almost over along with the summer season! I naturally had to get watermelons on my nails before summer comes to an end, and I used water decals from Born Pretty Store to make that happen. Let's check them out!

Water decals are an easy and affordable way to sport nail art on your finger tips, and I fell in love with the patterns on this particular sheet from BPS. There are 10 images of each of the images, and this particular sheet includes watermelon slices with a black and clear background for one design while the other is leopard print with hibiscus flowers and lush greenery. As I mentioned at the start of this post, I wanted to enjoy some watermelon nail art so I used that particular segment of this sheet to create the look in today's post. Let's check it out!

Prior to applying the water decals, I started out by painting my nails that would contain them with a white nail polish. Once my nails were completely dry, I cut out the segments I would need for my nails.

After removing and discarding the protective plastic film, I submerged my watermelon cutouts in water. After 40 or so seconds, the water decals floated off of the light cardboard backing.

Based on previous experiences with water decals, I have found they are easier to place and shift into position as needed on a damp nail. I quickly dipped my nail in my container of water before placement. I gently retrieved the now floating water decals with a pair of tweezers and carefully positioned them where I wanted them on my nails. Once I was happy with the position, I took a small piece of paper towel and soaked up the excess water by gently tapping on the top and along the sides of my nails. In order to fit nails of all sizes, they are too big for my nails, and I used a brush dipped in acetone to gently eat away the excess materials along the sides and tips of my nails. You could try to cut them to size while they are still on the heavier backing before submersing in water, but I personally prefer to use this method. After waiting a few minutes to ensure my nails were dry, I topped my nails off with top coat, wrapping my tips to ensure a longer lifespan on my nails.

If you are looking for a super easy way to put nail art on your fingertips, I would check out water decals! They are easy and quick to use, and using them doesn't require extensive skills!

  14. I'm from the US and the first time I did my nails in Romania with art, the lady found it really weird and, well, counterproductive, that the nail salons in the US did nail art by hand. She showed me these water decals and I tried one - they were perfect in quality and so much easier to apply.
